:shifty:

Should I take a look? The location they say it is at is just 7 kilometers to the west...

But the Agency has probably already read this post, and have the men in black waiting for you at the perimeter! Best just to leave it be :shifty:

:lol:

Moved into residence last night, and I can tell it will be worth every penny. I got more done today than I did in all of last week.

Gives a new meaning to the archaic schoolyard phrase, "I'm rubber and you're glue . . ."

I'm sure Tex appreciates this one...

...i'm one of those few. :lol:

But what the hell does it mean? :blink:

Well, just split it into its components:

First level:

  1. Überschallverbrennung
  2. s (=the part before the 's' further defines the part following it)
  3. Staustrahltriebwerk
So, it is a "Staustrahltriebwerk", that is different to its generic form by having "Überschallverbrennung".

Second level:
Über = Over, higher, above
schall = Sound, sonic

verbrennung = combustion

So: Supersonic combustion

Stau = congestion, jam, pile-up, etc.
strahl = jet
triebwerk = engine

So, it is a jammed jet engine... no, that doesn't sound good. Maybe a word has been omitted, since it is trivially included in the definition of a jet engine.

So, we dig in the aerodynamic engineering department of our brain:

Staudruck = dynamic pressure
Stauluft = ram air.... fits

It must have been a

Stau-(luft-)strahltriebwerk = "ram air jet engine"

= ram jet

So, we have a supersonic combustion ram jet

Also known as:

Scramjet

:lol:

But Linguofreak was faster there in identifying the term, but he also has a deeper understanding of the German language than I could ever have.

Which countries are missing?

Does Bielefeld conspiracy really exist?
I never heard of it, neither of Bielefeld.

Thats a conspiracy that tries to hide the Bielefeld conspiracy, so you believe that Bielefeld does exist. Which it doesn't. Even Angela Merkel is knowing the Bielefeld conspiracy.

Hm...
I smell the hands of The Recursive Conspiracy at work.

For years, each time Top Gun would air, and Goose would say the line, "The Defense Department regrets to inform you your sons are dead because they were stupid," my brother and I would get into a huge argument because he was convinced there was no such thing as the "Defense Department" in the US. While it is technically called The Department of Defense, almost everyone calls the Department of the Treasury simply "The Treasury Department." Looking back, I'm not sure if he was arguing semantics, or if he actually believed there was no such department.

Having rewatched 'The Wrath of Khan' like...something like 10 years after my heavy Star Trek phase I have to say:
It didn't age well. Not at all.

I mean sure it has it's great scenes and the story is also good but I already knew the story and it looks like any other sci-fi from Raumpatrouille to the end of the 90s.

It's still a million times better than the new Star Trek but I have to say I'd know a dozen of movies out of the back of my head I would rather watch. And I mean it's Star Trek and back then I thought it was the best.

I should probably have watched 'Space Seed' before.

"I heard somebody say, "War never changes." What a bunch of :censored:. Give me a tactical nuke and I'd change this mother:censored:er real quick."

Thanks Fallout dialogue writers for making my neighbours believe I'm insane with the laugh I had over that.
