My wife and kids were in a bus crash this morning: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/10/20/2718669.htm. They got out OK, albeit shaken, but one of the seven passengers sent to hospital was our neighbour, 35 weeks pregnant. Here's hoping she is OK.
Yikes! I hope everything is okay!
Also, the car owner is quite lucky things didn't turn out worse for him. It doesn't get much more dangerous than a burning car.

Lucky pedestrian: a security cam video of a bus crash in Perm'
 Very lucky indeed.

I just got back from their place. Everything seems OK so far, a bit sore but no permanent damage. Now comes the hard part - convincing my 3 yo daughter that it is OK to get on a bus again...

Yes, but I do wonder at his wisdom of opening the bonnet when smoke was coming from under it. I may have done the same, but I keep a fire extinguisher in the car. I've also been meaning to get one of these: http://www.lifehammer.com/

Well well... it has been exactly 1 year since I have started college and now I have started my Junior year. Though I don't think that I will be able to pull Junior/Senior in this next year again, the the classes are getting more intense... Even better news I will be able to pay for the next semester entirely, though that will only leave about $200 left... and this semester I am going to be taking web design with Flash and Dreamweaver. Hopefully I can get through the class on the trial versions alone, ahh well here's to another year of stress

You want a *really* big ship? Build a giant engine... face it's thrust towards the sky... turn it on... that's one big spaceship ;)

actually ... i'd love to try that :p is it possible to move a celestial body in orbiter or are they locked on some internal rails?

Zeroth limitation: Innovation
Primary limitation: $
Secondary limitations: Regulations (EPA, FAA, Pissed off Congress, etc)
Tertiary limitations: Time (see money)
Minor Concerns: Physical limits

Wouldn't it be easier to build a base and a factory on the moon, ship all the materials there , and launch from there?
Or just assemble on orbit where launch acceleration, total mass, atmosphere and most non operational requirements become a non issue.

Bonuses for using asteroids as material as there's no gravity well to pull out of. If you plan far enough ahead (see time and money) you can nudge them into any orbit you want.

Well, considering the apparent size of the lunchers in this image, I think it's safe to say that the answer is: Very Big. :p

So I did pick on him, nothing too terrible, but certainly not nice.

That's not good. I'd expect far more mature behavior from an Orbinaut.

But still, extremely funny story.

I was even more of a punk in Elementary School. Back then I was 4ft tall, 80 lbs and had a 3 man crew.

Is anybody aware of a forum-embeddable countdown timer?
