Orbiter Video Thread

I apologize for the intrusion, I just wanted to show you this video the music of which is unpublished. The music was done with a synthesizer, sampling some "well-known" voices and matching them with some AMSO simulations.

Hey, Tex, how do you do those fly-by shots in your videos?

Sometimes I use the ground camera in Orbiter as well. Ctrl+F1 opens the default camera dialog.

Just wondering, what screen recorders do you use to record those videos?I've tried to use a few,but they greatly decrease my framerate,Orbiter runs slowly and I sometimes get CTD's.

I used Fraps (trial), but only being able to record 30 seconds at a time was enough to make clips for my movie. I used the Editstudio trial and exported to a .mov (Quicktime) file with H.264 compression.

I'm not going to bother paying cash just to get rid of some watermarks.

If you plan on making move videos down the road, I would suggest you do purchase the software, or look for freeware alternatives. I didn't feel like finishing your video, since the editstudio watermarks were too annoying. (fraps watermarks are tiny and can easily be cropped out. Those are different)

I don't know of a free movie editor that can export to .mov (h.264), is for Windows, and isn't some "trial." I'm not going to shell out $90 just to get rid of some annoying watermarks. I'm only 15. And I'm not going to pirate anything.

Does anyone know of a video editor that is
-for Windows
-is completely free (no trial nonsense)
-can export good quality video
-can import .png (or .bmp?) --or-- add simple titles (with diff. fonts)

Or maybe I'll go back to Windows Movie Maker.

Landing on Phobos

Hi, I upload video on Youtube. It's landing on Phobos, Mars moon. Do you have any experience or tips for this landing?

I hope, you will enjoy my video.

Video

Small question, existing free version of FRAPS? I don't mean DEMO version, but full version.

Video

 Nice choice in music

With landing on phobos (and similar sized moons in the Saturnian, Neptunian, etc systems) it's more or less like docking. you can use the linear RCS to fine tune your approach very slowly, and at about 30 or so meters left (when your speed is REALLY low) level your ship, and just slowly lower down onto the pad.

This one is freeware, and it does most conversions (if not ALL to ALL as it claims):
