Used a Earth-Venus-Earth-Jupiter sling to get there. The sling at Earth was powered, about 100-120 m/s. Not the most efficient route, but I managed to get there. And all thanks to Piper's Trajectory Planner, which I think is the only program of its sort which allows custom bodies to be defined.

How did you use Piper's to calculate slingshots?

I was under the impression that it was a point A to point B planner...

Yep. But, I had calculated the window for a EVEJ sling for some of my earlier missions using Arrowstar's Trajectory Optimization tool. Then using Piper's planner, I was able to plot a good course from Jupiter to Chariklo. Any remaining tweaking was done in simulation, using TransX.

Lunar Station during Assembly Mission 140

Here are some photos of the Lunar Station taken during the recently completed Assembly Mission 140. The main task since the last time I posted has been adding the first half of the fuel storage tanks to the station. Most of the tanks visible in these photos contain LH2 although there are a number of LH2/LO2 tanks on the outside. Once I have all the interior LH2 tanks in place I'll be surrounding them with LH2/LO2 tanks. The biggest problem is that I can only bring up 1 of these tanks per XR5 mission. So although I've completed almost 40 missions since my last post, I've only brought up about 30 more tanks since then. I had to use a few missions for infrastructure as well. I also removed all of the LH2/LO2 RCS tanks that were along the center line as they were just getting in the way and didn't have all that much propellant in them for the space they were taking up.

And so now to the photos:

This is one taken from a good distance away from the station with front lighting.

The next 2 are closeups of the tank farm that I've been assembling. If you look closely you can see the XR5 docked with the Number 1 docking port.

This is a closeup of the XR5 so you can get some idea of the scale of this station.

And as a final photo, the Lunar Station backlit.

I didn't get any screen captures of the Lunar Station at night as the docked portion of this mission took place entirely in the daytime sky of the Moon. With all the Red navigational lights and multi-colored lights from the windows on the human habitated modules, it is very pretty in the distance at night.

A final note. These are full screen, screen captures so you can see the screen resolution on my computer and the FPS that I get when viewing this Station. From a distance I tend to get 18-20 FPS and closeup I can get a full 60 FPS.

When I tried to view this station on my father's computer 2 weekends ago, we got a FPS of around 5 seconds per frame and it would take 15-20 seconds to react to any view rotation command I issued to it.

When I finish this station, it will definitely fall into the category of 'only for high end computers'.

@ Dantassi That's one big station. Somehow, I can never keep myself motivated long enough to build such massive stations.

Moving on,

One rocket launch that I will definitely include in the "Most prominent launches of 2014" list when it launches June 25!

(note that it will be carrying a dummy payload flying on a sub-orbital trajectory, so no satellites on board ;))

For some years, was looking for a launch vehicle who used Payload Manager to load easily and throw things in a short time (mostly for fun). A few days ago I found HCLV Hyperion of Loru, I've downloaded, I've tried it and liked it.

Loru: thanks for your add-on.

Here is one of the impossible combinations for this launcher:

Awesome separation.

Definitely Matías Saibene launch style.
