Docked to the Wheel! Sadly, the XR1 docked is on the other side, wanted to see the sun :|

Awesome JBG! Every time I fly to Station 5 I hear "Blue Danube" in my head. I wonder if it's the same for anyone else...?
I don't think it's possible for one to not hear Blue Danube when going there.

First journey on Venus. Decided that these screenshots were too nice to put my traditional red caption on them.

The Hyperdart catching the last light of the sunset as it opens it's cargo-bay doors (oh so mysterious! :))

And the Valkirie which was used to carry the Hyperdart for the first phase of flight.Sadly I crashed it at KSC weather because I suck or there is a bug with the autopilot (I swear I disabled it but it still kept on going right). The UMMU crew survived and only the gear was broken.

This flight to orbit was very interesting I must say.Flying two planes without a joystick at the same time is exciting :) (even when one of them has an autopilot ).And now to de-orbit the Hyperdart...tomorrow.

A few days ago, I tried formation flying in XR2's. (Screenshots of the flights are earlier in the forum.) Even flying straight and level, with one XR2 in Attitude autopilot and with me flying the other, it was extremely difficult. I could barely hold the planes together in formation long enough to smash the PrtScn button!

:beathead:

I think part of the difficulty lies in the speed our spaceplanes fly at. The smallest change in attitude results in a large change in speed relative to your wingman.

Heh, credit to you for formation flying with an unpiloted vessel.
I've done it chasing an ascending DGEX with an F-22 (anachronistic, but it's the best I could come up with), no shots of it though.

But , did you think to use the docking HUD? While it's not docking, it shows you your RVel and distance in an easy-to-read way- very useful for intercept and formation flying in an atmosphere. Just close in, pull up next to the other vessel, and null RVel with trim and throttle. ;)
You're probably right about the speed though, I managed to fly only tens of meters away at mach 3, but higher speeds must make it harder...

And, did you think to use a replay? You can edit the playback files to allow you to control one vessel while the others move according to the playback. Basically like chasing yourself. :)

I decided to chill late at night by powering up Orbiter and drifting with my Blue DG in LEO with this playing in the background, and it got me in the mood to take some screenshots.

Hey, I did that too.
Albeit it was an XR-2 and not a DG, and at 90km instead of LEO.
