Orbiter Screenshot Thread

mattberg - why does your Earth have Saturn-like rings in the second screenshot? (Looks cool, btw).

I made them just for fun.
You just need to duplicate the Saturn_ring.tex and name it Earth_ring.tex, and then in the earth-config you have to add:
Code:
; === Ring Parameters ===
RingMinRadius = 1.278 ; inner ring radius in units of planet radius
RingMaxRadius = 2.407          ; outer ring radius

this was a really fun mission

The result of my latest (successful) expedition to Luna:

2050.png

Made this repaint of the Jovian Mine Corp on a serious scale and the reason I decided to remake this is because of these facts as follows:

1: I have serious doubt that we will ever set foot on the surface of one of the moons of Jupiter at 2030 because we are on a very slow progression with the space program and their goal is mars. I suspect that maybe in 100 years from now we made go there but not 2030. Hence I changed the EST to 2090 instead.

2: I made some detailed thoughts on this paint and the current one I use made by Dan is a little not detailed and not hires. I'm not criticizing Dan for the repaint of his version. I think its good but it needs to be more....serious

3: The original repaint was low-res to my perspective. this is because I'm using a GTX280 video card and I though Id give it a boost by 2 times. so instead of 1024x1024, it will use 2048x2048. But for those who have a low end card. I will make a low-res version for those folks .

4: If a mining corp was going to be on a solar system scale well I'm guessing that most countries that have a space program and are allies with each other have made this step beyond business of earth. It involves all of the members of NASA, ESA, JAXA, and the Russian Space Agency. China is not in this because I have a hunch that they think they will work alone and I haven't seen any truce agreements between these agencies and the Chinese Space Agency and I highly doubt they will do so in the future.

Now all of that is said. Here are the pics. go savor your eye sockets.

Cheers! :cheers:

Zack

That looks excellent, although I'd change the following 2 things:

1. Change the cockpit colour so that it doesn't stick out as much.
2. Change the flags. I have my doubts if those countries/space agencies would still exist (at least in their current form) by 2090.

I apologize for the nitpickery.

Hahaha. no prob. anyways its just my creation. now what did you mean by the 1st nitpick. I didnt understand

On that note--even if you don't change the flags, the US flag on the starboard side is backwards. According to US law, the US flag is never to be displayed backwards.

Actually you are wrong. if its Upside down, then its against the law. the reason why its backwards is because the starboard side of the space shuttle is apparently backwards too.

For example

That's where I got my idea of having it backwards

...I sit corrected. Apparently, when painted on vehicles, the flag should be displayed such that it looks like it's a real flag being blown by the wind; i.e., there's a flagpole on the "blue" side. On the starboard side of a vessel, that causes the flag to look backwards.

I was thinking of displaying the flag in a static display.

:P Its fine. In fact I just learned that law from my father because he was a cop ;) Anyways. new screenie. Awww my toy broke! :lol::rofl:

It's not really a law as much as it is a guideline. The US Flag Code actually has no legal power, but is simply a set of rules for honoring and respecing the US Flag that is generally followed by the military, law enforcement, fire & rescue, and scouting groups, although it is meant to be observed by all.
