After of month or 2 of hearing about people using BaseSync MFD and Aerobrake MFD to reenter and land, I thought I would give it a try myself with the XR2. I selected Habana as my target and did the deorbit burn. I was spot on, but had to do a couple S-turns to bleed off energy. I managed to keep dot on habana in the map mfd. When I finally came out of the flames of reentry, I was 30 Kilometers over Habana exactly. I performed the HAC turns by myself. When I was lined up with the runway, I was at 150 m\s?, perfectly lined up. I touched down at 0.3 m\s made wheelstop. Here are the pics.

A few shots using the excellent recent [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5442"]SpaceX release[/ame] by glider, and the awesome [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5067"]Jarvis Space Center[/ame] by loru.

Falcon 9 and manned Dragon launching from Jarvis to ISS.

Dragon docked to ISS.

After several EDL attempts that landed over the horizon, Dragon puts Pica-X to the test as it passes Jarvis.

Under the chutes, descending to a landing 47 km north of Jarvis. My best capsule landing yet, sadly. Impressively, once Dragon was on the surface, the VAB still stuck up clearly above the horizon.

Coming home, after a quick mission to the ISS.
Touchdown was a few moments short of 48 hours after take-off.
A nice smooth reentry over the USA back to the space-port she took off from.

edit: uh-oh, Dropbox is up to something...

The ZTC Ltd. Tortoise Lunar Capsule in mid-stages of construction broke free from its grapple at the ZTC-Titan Werks JV wet-workshop earlier today. Titan Werks issued a press release assuring an anxious web-audience that no damage was done, and the TLC was recovered less than 20 minutes after the grapple failure.

Shuttle Thermopylae Has returned home after a 7 month trip to deploy a Satellite around Venus to record weather patterns. The mission was a success. There were no failures.

Shuttle Intrepid landed safely at the Lunar Observatory. Could not return to Earth due too fuel issues. The Mission: Deploy MTKS-SAT in Mercury orbit. The Intrepid performed spectacularly.

How to wow the crowd with a VERY large bottle rocket:

launch1.jpg

Step 1: Start with SOME vapour.

launch2.jpg

Step 2: Add some SUPER-HOT hydrogen.

launch3.jpg

Step 3: Add HORDES of steam.

launch4.jpg

Step 4: Add LOTS of burning propellant.

launch5.jpg

Step 5: Add an ABUNDANCE of lift.

Delivery of reentry module was assured. However, absolutely nothing was stipulated the module had to arrive intact.

Oh well. At least it's a simulation, right?

Delta IV Heavy on its way from WIN:

Um, that looks a little abnormal. What exactly is going on there? An RTLS abort?
Just post-ET sep & OMS burn after a manual ascent.:)
