Orbiter Day

It could be a funny/nostalgic/interesting walk down "memory lane" to see some screenshots of that first version for those like me who didn't even know about Orbiter at that time.

The earliest version of Orbiter I can find is 010503 but that implies that it was release on March 3, 2001. If it was released on Nov. 27, 2000, where's that version?

That'd actually be May 3, 2001.

I guess November 27 is when he started coding Orbiter?

O.o

I never got all those ominous penguin allusions...

It's an Orbiter Radio in-joke perpetuated by the IRC channel members.

I'd be surprised if even Martin still has those files. 010503 was the earliest version I could find and I spent a good amount of time hunting for a copy when I made my ten year tribute video (010503 is listed as the earliest in the credits).

you won't have to try out the first, it wasn't really good.

It was one hell of a lot better then I could have done. Not to mention how long ago it was.

well it is good.
but not REALLY good, if you compare to 2010.
I think you should try out the versions since they had a main-menue, multiple scenarios and more different vessels. lets say since it would be possible to make Add-On-ships for that version.

If someone could find a full-size mockup of the Probe and adress it to Martins university... now that would be fun

Wait wait wait. We're rocket folks here. We don't send stuff. We launch stuff. If we want a full mock-up of the Probe to Martin's uni, we make one and then we attach it to a large rocket and a landing module, we fire it towards Martin's uni, and the mockup of the Probe (hail!) lands there using a combination of parachutes and landing engines. Of course the rocket will have to reach and surpass the 100km limits to be In Space(TM).

But why send a mockup? I say put some instrument package on it, so we can take readings on the landing site and determine if Martin's uni is capable of supporting life. Next we could attempt a manned landing and, perhaps, in the long term, a permanent base.

Has anyone a V2 rocket to spare?

Wait, launching V2s at London again? Isn't that the wrong anniversary?

Couple of days ago was Guy Fawkes' Night. Who says that you can only celebrate it in place?

And then I don't think it's fair that some dude in a creepy mask gets to have all the fun. With Natalie Portman no less.
