Problem Orbiter 2016 and Keyboards

I'm having a problem with Orbiter 2016, running on an HP Pavilion Windows Vista. Orbiter does not accept any key commands with the exception of Alt-F4. I searched the forums and tried the "Focus Follows Mouse" check box that was suggested but nothing changed. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

I managed to get Orbiter running on a laptop. I suspect AOL DataMask's Entry Protect is scrambling key inputs. Is there any work around without removing DataMask?

I ran it on a pavillion DV3 on win7 for years without problems... Why not try turning data mask off for a moment and see if that changes the situation?
