Orbit transfers to inner planets

Maybe I am just Not paying attention, but is there some magic trick to doing a transfer from Earth to Venus? I seem to be burning MASSIVE amounts of fuel and well running out of fuel in just about every vehicle I try to get there with

Tangential transfer using IMFD. It takes longer, but it is less fuel consuming.

so Earth to Venus is 2 options....

1) LOTS of fuel, not that fast or
2) REALLY long and REALLY slow

Unfortunately, spaceflight is pretty much always like that. If you use gravity assisted trajectories, by slinging back around the Earth once or twice, you can get to Venus with less propellant, but it will take even longer.

I need to give sling shots a try.... Since I think that most of my outer planet trips will be unmanned and be probes... why not take longer to guarantee a successful mission
