OFSS Project Discussions

Can I do M36? I think it's still available. I'd like to do a launch mission.

I'd like to fly M21 if it is avalable, i can provide backup for M16 to M19 if needed.

I can fly any XR vessel, Shuttle and DGIV.

I've added you all to the schedule for the missions you requested, I haven't updated the screen shots yet though. Will do so in a moment.

I'm trying to get the next mission out but I'm having serious problems getting the P3P4 solar panels attached to the XR5. Is it possible for you to fly the space shuttle Phantom Cruiser if no one can shed some light on this?

You could UCD it, but they would be another add-on required for the mission.

Otherwise, I don't have any thoughts.

I can get the Shuttle up there, but someone else would have to recover it. I can't land her consistantly enough (yet). Working on some mad skills, but these hours I'm on have cut into my Orbiter time (dang paying job...).

I've got a P3P4 XR5 payload .cfg file here if you wanted it

I tried playing around with that, but I can't seem to get the XR5 to stop telling me the docking port is closed with it attached. I haven't searched around for an answer to that just yet (other than the UCD manual), kind of a lot going on for me right now so I am very limited on time. The UCD is also totally untested with the OFSS package. Anyone experienced with it able to help I could surely use it. Many thanks!

I totally understand about the work bit, I'm currently in the same boat. Not to worry, I will try to get it working with XR5, I'm sure someone here can help.

It's all good dude. I've left the proverbial pilot's lounge and am working my way over to the briefing room.

Edit (at 0537 EDT) I'll probably launch as soon as I get home here in a few hours, if my wife doesn't make me go to bed, then I'll move into the construction phase. If I'm not too tired then I'll recover, if not then it'll be Sunday morning. Post to the fourm the .scn upon completion.

I think you need the [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3312"]UCD Carrier[/ame] for the UCD to work properly in the XR5. Not sure if it will fix the "Warning: Docking Port is Closed" message (got that myself, very annoying) but worth a try.

I think it is caused by the fact that the UCD is actually a vessel in orbiter, and the XR5 code freaks out when the proximity is so close and the docking port is open. Just a theory though, not knowing anything about the code behind the XR5.

For Tex.
Should missions with DG or XR vessels started in hangar instead on runway?

Maybe will be more ....sorry i do not know how to explain in english.
Like in reality... i thing.

What do you mean pilots???

I think I could fly M25 or M26 unless someone else already have them. They're end-November or beginning of December, leaving me enough time for some training :D

I'm really not good at manoevring Space Shuttles. For these missions, are autopilots allowed? And, which shuttles (SSU or Shuttle Fleet) are we going to use?

Schedule updated and posted in the Mission Schedule thread.

Could I sign up for the January 11th, mission 35? I got to do something really cool by hauling up the first of the solar panels, so I'm more than happy to be a delivery boy on a second trip.

Tex, for future missions, would you note new add-on requirements by typing them in red? OFSS requires quite a few now and it would making it easier to tell at a glance which you have and which you do not.

Good idea, I will do this from now on.

As I thought, the red was a good idea. Thanks, Tex.

It seems to have been a bit glossed over, but what exactly is the story with crew on this station? In particular, the absence of any escape vehicle stationed on a permanent basis is worrisome, if there is in fact a permanent crew. In building my station, an XR2 was docked 24/7 ever since assembly progressed to the stage where a permanent crew was needed.

So, is there a permanent crew aboard this station yet? After my mission next week, there will be a permanent escape vehicle docked to the station, but as of yet, there isn't one. It's questionable to have a crew up there without a means of quick return to Earth.

For my own use I've got an Inflatable Rescue Module attaced to the station. When new missions get posted, I'll make a copy (for baseline), edit it with the rescue module and add the crew), then run both missions, that way the rescue module never shows up in the screenshots.
