You'll probably find that installing the correct driver will also help with running Windows itself and definitely any other games you have. It's one of those core system components which should be sorted out by the person who set up your computer and kept regularly up to date.

One can only imagine in horror the framerates you've been getting...

Youtube wasn't that bad but the frame rates were awefull and some spacecraft weren't loading at all. It turned out there was an automatic re-install thing on my computer that did the trick, and now the MFDs are working along with engine exhausts, etc. I am hugely gratefull to all the help I recieved.

You should also notice the additional device options in the video tab now.

Yes, I assumed I had to select one of those to reap the benefits, so I did so straight away.

If you have one with "T&L" in it, it will give the best performance.

So what card did you have after all?

That's the one I chose first time off luck.
Not sure to be honest, but I don't really care so long as it work.

Thanks again,

O.K. but it might help others ;)
They might try to search the forum for "Card XYZ" and find this thread

There are a lot of things in Orbiter and in knowing how a computer works that are detail oriented. It would be best to remain aware of them and how everything all fits together.

Now I'm not saying to go study the source code for your graphics drivers. But be sure you have the latest version and that it is correctly installed and functioning. Know your hardware on a basic level.

The more detail you understand the more you will enjoy this type simulation genre. The issue of your graphics card could come again when you install a very complex add-on, or upgrade to a newer version of Orbiter with a different graphics engine(way of drawing graphics). Or perhaps when enabling or disabling certain rendering features. This little problem can present itself with any game for that matter.

Also, knowing the make/model/manufacturer for your Graphics Card means you know where to go to check for updates to your drivers.

Well the "device ID" is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_07E2&SUBSYS_01371025&REV_A2\3&267A616A&0&80 but I don't really know what it means. When it says NIVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NIVIDIA nForce 630i I guess that's something to do with it.

This isn't really my computer so I am totally clueless about it, not that I know much about the internal workings of a computer generally.
