Hello all,

I've made a bit of progress on the DG lately, here some pics.

So far the MFDs (four of them), the throttle, the engine and the gear panels are done.
Next step, the joystics (yes, I plan to put two, one on each side), and than the autopilot panel.

I have to go now, need to vacuum clean my space ship :hotcool:

AWESOME!

Couple questions:
-The throttle quadrant (or i guess, tridant? lol)...where did you get it?
-The MFDs, how are they controlled? That is, are they just screens wired into a central computer or ...?

Hielor,
The throttle is from Saitek, cute and cheap http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/quad.htm

The MFDs are (will be) controled with XKey -> AutoHotKey -> Orbiter, the displays with MirrorMon. Unles somebody will come up with a better way.

Check the pics.

Sweet! Are you going to use a rear-projection screen right up against the front windows?

Awesome build. I'm pondering an Orbitor simpit build too. :)

absolutely sweet! I hope when you get the chance you can post a detailed tutorial on how you built your pit. Can't wait to see the finished result!

probably, or if I get the courage, a colimated display.

Projectors are pretty cheap on ebay. I'd suggest getting any old 1280x720 or 1280x1024 projector and back projecting it onto screen material for the windscreen. I think it would be pretty cool. Only issue is making room for the throw distance for the projector. It'll be very immersive imho.

yes, but, a colimated display is way better (and a lot harder to make) :)
And as you pointed out for the retoprojection a lot of room is needed. There are workarounds for that to, of course, like turning the the beam with mirrors.

Where did you get your MFDs' LCD screens? I'm assuming you made the faceplates yourself, but where did you find screens that small and how much did they run for?

Yes the bezels are home made. The displays from ebay, got them (a year ago) for euro 70 each, if I remember well.
