Project MTS Shuttle System

But you can't deny, that plane looks like it's wearing sunglasses.

I can't. :)

Quick update:
total polygon count: 16738
total vertex count: 8449
total stack height: 54,5 m

With temporary SRB textures looks like this:

Now I need launch tower :D

This looks nice. Good job on the textures!

very nice shuttle dervived launch system there!

very nice shuttle dervived launch system there!

It has more similarities with Ariane V / Hermes.

first alpha release:
http://www.webmarek.lh.pl/loru/vs-01_alpha02.zip

This is early alpha version based on spacecraft3/multistage.dll.
You need to have apropriate version for 2006 and 2010. (NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE)

Edit: Fuel, Mass & Autopilot tweak

Due to some ISP problems & personal issues my presence on the forums will be temporary suspended (for about 30 days).

Project is still in developement and more updates will be posted as soon I'll get internet working again (currently it's braking connection every 3-4 minutes)

C Ya & Happy Orbiting

Good luck with the ISP and personal issues man. Hope to hear more about this whenever you can. Looks awesome and we're all really looking forward to it.

ISP problems have been solved suprisely fast. It's very effective to just tell them (ISP) that I'm gonna sue them. They work really fast then.

Would you make it UMMU compatible? Then it would fit in with the new shuttle fleet:idea:

I'll try to implement this during .dll coding. First of all there is still much work to do:

Work queue looks like this right now

-Tweaking aerodynamic model
-Porting booster to Velcro
-Few things must be added to main mesh & textures.
-Launchpad must be finished
-Some sample payloads have to be modelled.
-UMMU 2.0 /UCGO

Work still in progress.

Back from the grave.

As seen in Screenshot thread and on my blog MTS developement is moving forward.

Current status:

Launcher is now custom .dll with payload manager and hopefully launch autopilot.
Currently there are still some bugs in it but they will be solved.

First stage brings shuttle with second stage attached to suborbital trajectory. Details on screenshot:

launch01.jpg

After separation second stage with shuttle may coast to apogee to circularize orbit or perform GTO burn.

And here is stack on ground (I won't spam screenshot thread anymore):

Update:

Coding progress:

Launcher is almost done. Things to do:
- minor SRB separation tweaks
- launch/ascent autopilot

Features added: ullage motors on second stage (5 second burn during separation)

Shuttle is still in developement.

I've made some tweaks in the textures.

New & better custom launchpad meshing is in progress.
