I think we have a winner of the "2011 Orbiter Meme competition"...

We should bace our review on objective criteria, though.

Such as the quality of the serface textures.

Shame on you....this oke did not even try to defend himself:rofl:

Where does the Airbace get its power from? From a wind turbine, of course!
Well, because of the lack of air and wind on the moon, the wind turbines are called wind turbice ;)

Someone should add this to the bace.

All previous talk of landing strips on the moon was baceless konjecture. Now we have a kontrol. Thic ic the beginning of a noo chapter for airbaces.

It gets its power from a solar wind turbine of course. ;)

I hope that the person who posted this add-on doesn't think that this thread is getting a little too mean.

And I don't think it's THAT dumb. It's possible to use hover engines only enough to make a rolling landing. Then one can use wheel breaks and save a little fuel.

Ok, fine, not a problem. IF the addon is called something like OHM Moon Runway. But it's called (or supposed to be called ) an airbase. There is no air on the Moon. If you try to land on it like a runway on Earth, you will brake your landing gear, and then your wheel breaks will be of no use.

Maybe this forum should have a spell-check function so that people can speel properly.

Personally, I would have no problem to post "Well done, good job" if a second add-on from that person, that is a little more "on-the-line" comes up. ;)

Or we need to get proper navigation tools to adapt : a Serface HUD and a Serface MFD.

We still need bace SDK

This was pretty heavily discussed in another thread.

The main problem I can think of off the top of my head is that there would be almost no way to cool your brakes -- on Earth, brakes rely on air passing over them to cool, but on the moon (in spase) you don't have air to cool them.

The problem is also: How the hell do you want to slow down to properly touch down at low enough speeds?

You can use retro and hover thrusters at once yes, but that is a terrible way to slow down and extremely fuel consuming since you already need to counter gravity very soon for buying enough time to slow down on the usually weaker retros.

The best way is to use hover thrusters completely - but then you land finally vertically by definition of the best possible trajectory. Moon has no atmosphere, so you can't even try a VECTOR landing, like modern fighter jets with TVC can.

On Mars you could - there is still enough atmosphere left to slow down by it while using hover only to assist before landing. Still a pretty fast landing then.

Sadly enuf a spaseplain has got no plase in spase (other than on Titan, p'haps).

Getting slightly back on track, you have to give credit for what he's done. The author has preserved the correct file structure, included a preview picture in the Images folder, a simple test scenario with the stock DG, and even wrote documentation in rich text format:
This Is a 1 runway airport on the moon. It is ideal for spacecraft bound for far away expeditions of the solar system.

Instalation: Just put all files in there orbiter files.
For a beginner, it's actually a pretty well-executed addon, albeit a bit...misplased.

...and its bean downloded 28 x's as ov this post. That's actually a lot better than my first addon did in the same time frame.

Rmeembr mst peple only ned the frist and lsat ltetrs of a wrod to id it and fnid menaing.

Wow, 5 pages in one day for a simple addon...
