I am using the SSU textures with the Shuttle Fleet since I like them better then the dafault ones.
The only thing I really don't like is that the SSU textures show the "burnt" signs of the reentry plasma on the side of the fusolage and other parts of the orbiter hull which looks bad in all phases of a mission except during late stages of reentry.
I have tried to modify the textures using PS eleements (after downloading the plugin for DDS files) but this id what I get

When I save the file in PS this window pops up (Nvidia GC): I have left the settings as they show (default). Could it be that these settings are wrong and cause the bizzarre outcome I had?...

I think you got that (interesting :hmm:) orbiter look because the mesh is expecting a certain part of the texture to be in a certain place of the texture image. If you open both textures you'll see that the orbiter "parts" are in different places. You need to match the mesh to the texture for things to look good.
All those settings have nothing to do with it (I think you still need to have a DXT setting that orbiter likes, but as something showed up its fine).

Your texture is rotated 90 degrees to the left. Rotate it 90 degrees to the right and see if that works.

That was it, now everything is back in place. Thank you guys.
Still my new texture could win the "most original Shuttle Livery Contest"
