Discussion Mesh making with Blender

Can't you let him make simpler models as "temporary" replacement until somebody can get and convert better models or his skills improved? After all, its better than nothing, right? And having more vessels in Star Trek can help make it feel right.

Also I perceive your reply is a bit "utilitarian" and not very nice towards @gattispilot considering his honest efforts to help you. I am sure, that was not your opinion or intention there.
That was not my intention, sorry.

In that case, we might as well just abort the whole process, since I was asking for someone to convert those specific models for use in screenshots. That being said, there are a few vessels using 3D models by other users that may be more within your area of expertise.
Oh. If you need screen shots and not the vessel. I wonder if you could just take the screen shot off the Devian Art site. I am not an Blender expert. But one can add a converted vessel in FBX. But I am not sure how one could add the textures?

My preference is to convert to .obj files and download textures separately. But for .max files, there is still the max2msh orbiter utility.
Yeah, I asked because I wanted someone to convert some of David Metletits' 3D models (which can be found on his Deviantart page) for use in screenshots, but because they were in said format, they ultimately proved to be outside of gattispilot's area of expertise. I'll send you the links in a PM.

(Regarding the Daedalus-class starship specifically, I probably should have used the earlier - and I assume simpler - version of the model.)

Yes. Glad some who can convert from .max files is going to help. Yes I build this YEARS ago.

Just wondering, but have you started converting those 3D models I sent you? If so, how long do you expect it will take to do them all?

I tried this: max2msh but It looks like you need GMAX or 3dsMAX. It looks like GMAX is not available now.

Yes, I received it. I had wondered what you where asking of me. Frankly, I had not intended participating in the project as I had others on the go (I am nearly 70 and time is precious).
As I said, I simply need you to convert those models from .max to .msh. Once that's done, hopefully gattispilot can make additional modifications such as scaling.

So I tried to install the .max installer. And nothing. I am NOT a blender expert.
