Request Mechjeb like addon?

Which is, IMHO, the core of the debate : does Orbiter Space Flight Simulator has to become user-friendly ?

Personally, I don't think so.

The point of displaying a lot of values on OrbitMFD is also to teach people that they exist and are important in real-spaceflight world, and what do they look like.

Also : did the Apollo GNC looked friendly ? Were the Space Shuttle various MFDs with all their submodes friendly ? Is the russian-written flight interface of the Soyuz friendly for non-russian 'nauts ?

Orbiter isn't gonna become user friendly through a series of tutorials or a highly advanced autopilot system. Not until the community loses the "I'm better than the average KSPer" attitude and not until addon devs start designing more intuitive interfaces.

Sorry, but forgive me if I don't pity you for your problems with Orbiter.

You get the user interface for the task. Orbiter is not KSP. The solar system of Orbiter is a lot bigger and more complex than KSP will likely ever get.

You can't just reduce everything to a few simple numbers and all will work the same. Even if I agree that the user interfaces of Orbiters MFD are stuck in the 1970s and violate all best practices of UI design. Even a well-designed MFD will be way more complex and display you way more data, than you will ever require in the KSP world.

So please: Stop making KSP a new Orbiter and Orbiter a new KSP. I hate Gleichschaltungen. Can't there be some diversity?

And about the user-interfaces: We have NASSP and we have AMSO. We have SSU and we have Shuttle Fleet. Choose your weapon.

Which was pretty good to simulate the Space Shuttle, designed in the 1970's, the first "realistic" spacecraft that came with Orbiter :)

Yeah, maybe that looks a bit pre-historic for SSTO spaceplanes like the XR-2 or the DG-IV, but nobody forbid people to develop futuristic-looking MFDs (the closest to that are the custom 2D panels).

Yes, but even the displays of the MEDS upgrade had been still annoyingly historic. The CAU modification that was planned for the Shuttle was way more radical and finally following some modern standards.

So, yes, for simulating historic spacecraft, you have the option to use the historic user interface. Of course you can also use a modern UI, even if this is wrong - that is the choice of the guy making the add-on. If a KSP player does not like it, he can write to Obama if he likes. But the add-on developer decides how his add-on looks like.
