Updates Mars Science Laboratory (Curiosity)

It will.

That mission also show it will be vital to build a dedicated communication satellites network around Mars to elaborate more complex robotic or manned expeditions.

I'll be surely late at work tomorrow.
Luckily I am UTC+2 here and I use to wake up at 7am anyway...I'll set my wakeup ring at 6:30.

I've done the same thing, "just" for MSL !

I turn on UStream into Curiosity Cam, I'm exited !

Phobos passing to the left now. EYES rocks, beautiful visualization. This is getting really exciting...

Goodspeed to Curiosity. Keeping the fingers crossed that all the stuff works as advertized, and that there'll be some nice flat spot on the surface of Mars underneath!

Subsystem check in progress. Proceeding on schedule.
All operational!

Controlled peanut consumption now taking place.

why they eat that?

Tradition. It was done during Apollo 11. Like you have to plant a tree before boarding a Soyuz. ;)

Because it was the snack food during the 1st succesfull ranger mission back in pre-apollo days.

why they eat that?

There is a tradition at JPL to eat "good luck peanuts" before critical mission events, such as orbital insertions or landings. As the story goes, after the Ranger program had experienced failure after failure during the 1960s, the first successful Ranger mission to impact the moon occurred while a JPL staff member was eating peanuts. The staff jokingly decided that the peanuts must have been a good luck charm, and the tradition persisted.

Damn...how didn't I know about Eyes before? I'm trying to download all the viewers now...not good.

They have been insisting on the fact that no communications after predicted time should not be taken in a too dramatic way, though it will be nerves-breaking.
