OHM Mars Cargo Dragon

Want to send a ton of stuff to Mars? A modified Cargo Dragon, equipped with 4 SuperDraco engines and 200kg extra fuel for propulsive landing on Mars, carrying 1000kg payload. Rudimentary Auto EDL targeting and landing. FalconHeavy launch with flyback recovery of all booster stages. Launch, Mars approach and EDL scenarios included. A rough "proof of concept" for the projected RedDragon mission.

Awesome...as usual !!
I have tested two times, and all went fine.
Full automtic landing near Olympus.
The first try was at 2.3 km "after" landing site.
Next test was 5.1 km "before" landing site.
This gives me better results compared to dragon earth reentries, where I am off at about 15 km mostly.
However, 2, 5 or 15 kms....all in short walking distance.
Very precise. A dream comes true....this will keep me busy during the next days....

Thanks for the response, guys. I kind of came across this by accident - I was just testing the FalconHeavy to see if it could get a Dragon to Mars. The Dragon handled the Mars entry so nicely, I thought it wouldn't take much to add some SuperDracos and tweak the landing algorithm to make it functional.
I reckon the EDL algorithm needs a lot more thought - it's not robust and won't handle non-nominal entry conditions very well! Still, it shows it can be done and sort of how it can work.

Hey BrianJ,in the launch scenario of the Mars cargo dragon the core stage isn't landing on the ASDS,it keeps missing it.

Works ok for me, quite a long reentry burn and lands with 1300kg fuel remaining. Can you save the scenario just after core separation and post it here? I'll take a look. I note the ASDS isn't located exactly on the groundtrack.

Hi,
it looks like you're going to Polar orbit - FalconHeavy target inclination is set for 91.5deg - did you input required launch azimuth instead of required launch inclination? The ASDS is positioned for a launch to ~29deg inclination.
