Is there any Map MFD remakes?
Remakes as in a map MFD with some enhancements, like sunlit/shadowed part indication, read-from-tex colors, etc?
Don't want to reinvent the bicycle again.

There was a enhanced Map MFD once, but I don't know if it is still in development. Did exactly what you suggest. It painted the shadow as shadow in spacecraft altitude, but I don't think this is a problem...

It was Radu's addon, but I don't think it works, for the 2006 update. At least, I could never get it to work.:(

It works fine for me, with one caveat, don't use it on interplanetary missions, it causes orbiter to crash if you get too far from earth. But I use it all the time for inserting satellites in to orbits, particularly tundra orbits. :)

Same problem for me.

BTW what is a tundra orbit?

Is similar to a molniya-orbit. An high ecliptic orbit which has 24 hours period (Molniya orbit uses 12 hours). Is usually used with high inclination (63.4°) to reduce the effects of non-spherical gravity on the orbit, with the effect, that the satellite can reach the higher latitudes of Earth for a long time, before doing a fast periapsis passage.

Well, Radu is back. Maybe you could convince him to look into making Extended Map MFD compatible with Orbiter 2006. ;)

Extended Map MFD works fine for me, no crashes or anything. Standard map MFD has two features E-Map does not: it shows ground tracks of other satellites and it has a zoom feature. If someone ever incorporates those features into Radu's MFD, it puts standard map out of business.

One other feature of standard map MFD;
you can select a base target from amenu rather than typing in the base's name.

I would like to see, the next 3 projected Orbits, like the one at MC.

Yes, in fact it defaults to 3, but you can set anywhere from 1 to some rediculously large number. And these are true ground tracks, not instantaneous projection on a nonrotating earth (and thus wrong) which is what standard map gives you. A cool idea would be to combine e-map with Base Sync MFD.

Try escaping from earth orbit at time acceleration.

When I escape earth orbit on one MFD is usually IMFD->Course and on the other there is IMFD->Map. Deactivating E-Map is just one more thing to remember during interplanetary spaceflight. Not a big problem for me.
