As what I have observed every month, There's a declining number of active orbinauts in the site. Last Month there were only 20 active orbinauts. However, I'm glad to see that the number has doubled this month. I have hoped fot the orbiter community to grow, but as we all know, if we don't take action, there won't be any improvements..

Being the most Awesome Space Simulator to date, We should not let it be wasted to oblivion. We should make it famous. We can inform a lot of people as much as possible, and make more orbiter fans. .We can do this by advertising it to some social networking sites, tell friends, or even make public announcements :). We need to do this. Make the Orbiter community alive... And I can't do it alone

And then you'll get an influx of people, where only 2% are likely people of quality.

Huh? There are currently almost 10,000 registered accounts and almost 900 active orbinauts. Right now, 116 people are browsing this forum (most unregistered, and maybe some of those are search engine bots, but still). Are you sure you didn't look at the 'currently active users' list, which tells you how many people are online at the moment?

What do you propose? Grabbing random people on the internet and saying 'Hey, you MUST join here or else'?

Personally, my preference is for this community to grow slowly with people who are truly interested in what Orbiter can and has to offer. If it grows too fast or grows with 98% of people who thing Orbiter is a space shooter then I can see the staff being very busy dealing with people who use 'txt/l33t' speak to complain about it.

No thanks.

I agree with gary. Take for example The Kerbal Space Program Forums. After a let's play by a rather big Youtube name, the population skyrocketed. Instead of people genuinely interested in KSP, you got everybody. The good, the bad, and the just plain brain dead. After a few months, the 'riff-raff' was filtered out, either by losing interest, or by being booted by the mods. Replace KSP with Orbiter, and you have a pretty good scenario for what would happen if we opened the floodgates of the internet.

You're right guys.. Its only for those that are interested and for those that really have passion for it. Its just that I dont wanna see orbiter fading to oblivion... Anyway, thanks for the comments..
