w00t!
Today, I just recently made my first earth-to-moon transfer!
I started out with the DGIV already in orbit (Earch Scenary > Docked to ISS), undocked, then plane change. Set up my HTO, burned, then i was on my way. At that point, I saved, then watched the Playback of the lunar transfer. Using some knowledge from that, I did my plane change burn to align with Brighton Beach, My orbital insertion burn, then a random burn (why, i STILL dont know)

I look at my PeA: O DANG! -137.5k. Open up hover engines and use them (why, idk, maybe something magic will happen? Oh, it did). My ApA was closer to me, so i was able to burn prograde to raise my PeA to about 7 km. When i reached PeA, I burned retrograde to lower my ApA so that i would hit to moon right about brighton beach (using my mapMFD). I slow down right on time (using knowledge from orbiting the moon), align, etc, etc. So, I get 3km above the ground, hit the "hold alt" autopilot, then continue to cruise towards brighton beach.

I use my translation thrusters to try to move my direction of travel closer to the port, but its taking to long. "O wait, i can use my main engines!" *burn* "yay, i'm headed towards the beach...shi*, thats coming up fast". Yes, i did pass brighton beach going 1200 m/s, but thats beside the point. I turned the other way, burned, then SLOWLY made my way over pad 3, and touched down...a little to hard tho, the Excess G alarm went off. But otherwise, not a bad day.

My first lunar transfer...not to bad. Especially cuz i winged the last half. ^_^

Good. ;)
The first time I did it from Cape Canaveral. But the landing on the moon was very hard for me too.
I tried it a lot of times. :D
Then I remembered that the "Hold Altitude" autopilot exists. lol

Good, well done! Champagne and party hats are in order. The next stage is to make a sweet approach and touchdown like you see Martin do in the Go Play in Space playback.

I remember my first landing on the moon, I didn't have a target, just the surface. after about 15 sucessful landings I finally decided that I wanted to land at the default base. Another 15 or so attempts I finally did it. I think my first flyby over Brighton Beach was a bit fast, I remember seeing the base then it was gone, ran out of fuel trying to slow down.

Now Lunar transfers are fairy easy for me, It just took MANY attempts and fine tuning. Still working on the controlled reentry and landing at a base on the return trip

Earth To Moon Transfer

Today I completed my first Earth to Moon Lunar transfer. My sense of accomplishmet however was short-lived as Orbiter crashed as I was preparing my descent. I tried again just now--and yet again it crashed. It happens right when I start using Aerobrake MFD to line up with Brighton. It happens consistently. Can anyone help?

Aerobrake works fine for Earth re-entry and very reliably. I'm confused.

And seperately, I just downloaded the ESS space station but I can't find it in the scenario editor. Any help would be greatly appreciated peeps.

The moon has no atmosphere. My guess is that Aerobrake MFD, which is meant for atmospheric reentries, is looking for an atmosphere and not finding one, and thus crashing. For lunar landings you can either wing it with VOR/NAV and surface MFD, or you can use LOLA MFD as an autopilot to bring it in for you.

Lol, i sent him a PM basically saying to use the VTOL tool.
