Hi;
I just discovered Orbiter and installed it on a brand new computer.
So far I'm loving it, but I've run into a few problems. I tried a search on this topic, but don't see anything, or maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for....

I Just Installed Apollo missions for Orbiter sim, but they won't run.

First I Downloaded & installed Orbiter 2006 (v060929) & ran it for a few days fine.

Next Installed upgrades for Earth, Moon & planets which ran fine.

Next Installed Apollo missions, but they won't run - program closes (see pix below).

The other (non Apollo) scenearios still appear to run fine.

Any help?

Dell Vostro 220s
Intel core 2 duo 2.93GHz
2GB ram
ATI Radeon R4550 vid card 1GB mem
Windows XP svc pk 3 w all updates

Thanks, Dave H.

please could you post your Orbiter.log found in base install of orbiter after the crash as it will have more info,

please use the code tags

Which Apollo Addon are you using AMSO or NASSP ?

This is just a guess from the images, but you seem to be trying to use a strange addon's scenarios (the Apollo Lunar Landings folder) instead of NASSP's (which I see you have installed). Those are probably for an older version of NASSP and wouldn't be compatible. Use the scenarios in the Project Apollo - NASSP folder.

I dont think he has either of the actual addons.he only has the mission scenarios and needs the actual amso or nassp addons

No, he probably has the NASSP beta, unless he did something weird like download the CVS snapshot and installed only one folder or did a CVS update on the Scenarios folder alone. He's using some weird scenarios, though.

-------------------------------
This is what I found in the Orbiter.log file -

**** Orbiter.log
Build Sep 29 2006 [v.060929]
Found 1 joystick(s)
Module AtlantisConfig.dll [API v.060425]
Module DGConfig.dll [API v.060425]

I don't know what "code tags" are, sorry.

I downloaded the following Apollo files -

ProjectApollo_6.4.0.zip
ProjectApollo_Patch_6.4.3.zip
ProjectApollo_Beta_20100104.zip

I unzipped and installed the following files -

ProjectApollo_6.4.0.zip
ProjectApollo_Patch_6.4.3.zip

I did not unzip the Beta file.

Prior to installing the above files, I installed and ran
the program successfully on the following upgrades -

orbiter060929_sdk.zip
Earth060504_L10.zip
PlanetHires060504.zip
NEP_050223.zip

While the game quits out, it does not crash my computer. I can restart
Orbiter, and it will run the other scenarios, just not Apollo.

As far as I know, I followed the installation instructions
on the download site to the letter.
I don't know the difference between AMSO and NASSP, I've only
heard of NASSP. All I know is that I downloaded and unzipped
the above files as described.
I'm new at this game.

Thanks for your patience;
Dave H.

Ok, what you need to do is load up one of the scenarios that crashes orbiter, then immediately post the entire log. Simply put the log between [ CODE ] and [/ CODE ] (remove the spaces).

Unfortunately, all you've provided is a small portion, which means you either missed the bulk of the log, or you've got a serious problem with your install. For the sake of testing, create a new install of Orbiter, and only install NASSP over it (avoid any other addons for now). If it works, then you've either got a strange mod conflict, or you installed something wrong.

Oh, the problem is you mixed NASSP 6.4 files with the beta files. The only NASSP files you need are ProjectApollo_CVS_20100104.zip and ProjectApollo_Beta_20100104.zip, found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/nassp/files/

I'd recommend starting a new orbiter install with just the basic orbiter folder, the content of the files above, and whatever textures you might want to use (setheden's are best for Earth, but I don't have a link on hand).

EDIT: Also you're gonna want IMFD or LTMFD to plan your burns.

For the problem with the orbiter log it could be that your orbiter installation don't has the rights to write into the log. Try giving your orbiter folder the full program rights.
