im not sure, if ive managed to get down to the island, i can usually land without stuffing it into the ocean. plus, that pile should be right on the runway threshold, so you wouldnt be able to land if it were there anyway

Just made my first flight to Jarvis. Excellent base! Took a tour around the island. It is small but have interesting places and very good layout. It gonna be one of my primary operational bases for a long time. I like the small hangars which have just enough space to hold a DeltaGlider. At other bases they are too big, in my opinion.

Wow, it's very awesome! Some of the best detail in a base I've seen.

A few little nitpicks: The taxiways lead into blast pads:

Which are only meant to cover ground to avoid dust kick-up from jetwash, they are not for taxiing.

Edit: Maybe I'm wrong on this? I've never seen a runway with taxiways leading into the end of the blast pad, but I'm no expert.

Also, the VASI does not work, they are always white, and there seems to be a single skewed red light floating behind them.

Besides that, it's perfect! Great to see bases with this level of detail and work put into them. :thumbup:

I was taking another look at this during the weekend. It seems to be missing a water treatment plant (easy, can be done with stock tanks and textures), and that perhaps the launch platform for the horizontal ass'y building could be a little shorter maybe?

Water treatment/de-salinization would be a big deal for the base, particularly the nuclear plant.

Massive? What is framerate drop on your machine?
I've tested Jarvis base in Orbiter 2010-P1 in 1152 x 864 x 32 on Celeron 600Mhz, 384 MB ram with Ati Radeon 9250 and got decent 24 FPS with stock DG on it

I estimate base meshes at 50k polygon.
Surface tile is single 2048x2048 texture.

Water treatment can be done in LH2/LOX production facility. I'll make a mesh for it
The shorter crawlerway from HAB (Horizontal Assembly Building) is also considered in next update.
