Updates ISS UPDATES

Thanks Pete, for the info. Are there any hi-res shots ?

Your wish is my command!

What's an addon ??

What's an addon ??

You know when you download a new package for Orbiter, then you extract it into Orbiter, and it doesn't work, so you spend the next few hours trying to find what's causing the problem by shouting at your PC, de-activating/re-activating every module one by one, removing/re-inserting every vessel into the scenario one by one, shouting at your PC some more, posting for help on this forum, ranting and raving at the developer for producing “buggy” work, etc.
Then you read the manual & discover that you need to download another package to make it work.

Well, that's an add-on!

On a more on-topic note, here's a great shot of the SFA now attached to the JEF & ungrappled by the MA.

Yes, that is nice. Does anyone have any info, on the joint angle limits ?

I have that thanks. Not much info on it, even when it was tested on STS-85.

Today (Wed. 17 March) aboard the ISS, Expedition 22 CDR Jeff Williams transferred command of the ISS to FE2 Oleg Kotov, in preparation for tomorrow’s undocking & landing of Soyuz TMA-16.

Isn't there more payload brought back, when minus a crew member, which would negate the elbow room ?

Elektron Failure:
Elektron is currently deactivated. Troubleshooting has not been successful to date, and TsUP/Energia is weighing the option of either getting the oxygen generator fixed or replacing it with a new unit. The US OGS (Oxygen Generator System) is available and can be activated when necessary. O2 will also be transferred from Discovery, with the quantity to be determined later. 100 lbs of O2 stack repress is needed to offset the deactivated Elektron.

ISS Daily Report for 16/04/2010 said:
Due to today’s shortened work day, the originally planned relocation of the Cupola RWS (Robotics Workstation) and its installation at the Cupola were deferred until the post STS-131/19A stage, but Soichi Noguchi did complete the installation of the new Cupola corner panels.

These new corner panels were launched on STS-131, as the original panels launched with the Cupola on STS-130 didn't fit.

In this photo, you can see the Cupola without the corner panels installed (notice the exposed wiring in the corners).

Now that STS-131 is safely on the ground, there is a lot of work to do on the ISS before STS-132 launches in just 23 days time. It’s going to be a busy few weeks aboard the ISS!

Pre STS-132 ISS flight events (not in chronological order):

Progress M-03M/Progress 35 undocking from Pirs [April 22].

ISS reboost by Progress M-04M/Progress 36 [April 23].

Progress M-05M/Progress 37 launch [April 28] and docking to Pirs [May 1].

Progress M-04M undocking from Zvezda's Aft port [May 10].

Soyuz TMA-17 relocation from Zarya's Nadir port to Zvezda's Aft port [May 12]. (This is being done to free up Zarya’s Nadir port for the installation of MRM-1 during STS-132.)

Setup of CQ (Crew Quarters) rack at Node 2 Overhead 5 location, which was delivered on STS-131.

T2 COLBERT rack relocation from Node 2 Deck 5 location to Node 3 Forward 5 location.

CQ rack relocation from the JPM to Node 2 Deck 5 location, which will complete the circumferential arrangement of all 4 CQ racks in Node 2. (The circumferential arrangement of the 4 CQ racks provides crewmembers with additional radiation protection.)

Cupola RWS (Robotics Workstation) relocation from Destiny and installation into the Cupola. (The Cupola RWS will be used to berth MRM-1 during STS-132, due to the enhanced views the Cupola provides of Zarya’s Nadir port.)

There may also be a possible US EVA to replace a faulty NTA (Nitrogen Tank Assembly). If this EVA takes place, the EVA crewmembers will likely be Soichi Noguchi (as he has EVA experience from STS-114 in 2005) and Tracy Caldwell-Dyson (as she has received EVA training, because she is scheduled to make a US EVA in July).
