Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The mission "human gallery" always gives me an instant crash. Entire computer freezes and I have to power it down each time, so I never get a log to check for errors. I have 3 different installs of Orbiter, one is clean 10830, one is clean 10606. (clean as in only UMMO and the required sound mod 3.5).

Have tried everything I can think of and searched the entire internet. Anyone know what it might be?

Using windows 7, nvidia 520 (until i replace the piece of junk), 3GB ram. Everything is in the downloads folder.

Sorry, UMMU (universal Mmu).

<<MORE INFO>> I was able to run with the XR5 Vanguard no problem (when it blew up the game stopped responding but my computer didn't lock down). The XR2 however results in a lock down instantly. More info in my next post too.

:welcome: to the forum!

If you're getting a hard lockup (mouse freeze) it sounds like a hardware or video driver problem. Double-check that your video mode is set to "Direct3D T&L HAL", and first make sure a totally clean Orbiter installation works -- just bring up a default DeltaGlider scenario. If that works, start adding add-ons one-at-a-time until it breaks.

Sorry, Universal MMU not mmo. typo. Yes it does work without mods, and even with many mods. Its when I interact with the MMU that it crashes.

Update - made sure correct graphics were running, started it up again. It worked for one scenerio, and I started the action area scenario. I scrolled through the H help menu, but on closing it my system locked down again.

At this point, even if it is fixed I'm too afraid of the software to have much fun with it.

The only system lock-up I've ever had with Orbiter was with Thorton's Soyuz FG-U running under D3D9 Client. After everything froze I waited a couple of minutes and a message popped up saying that my video drivers had stopped functioning and to restart my computer. Have you tried updating your graphics drivers?

I just got a new graphics card, so yes.

<<MORE INFO>> Several of the times however, my monitor stopped functioning directly after crash. I smacked it and it came back on. Was still under lockdown. Sound also would go into the classic repeating beepbeepbeep of lock down.

I did not have orbiter before I got the new card.

Just found the game thanks to a link from the Dwarf Fortress forums page.

What card is it? I'd say it's almost certainly a problem with the drivers. Uninstalling the card and reinstalling it might fix the problem.

Spec is listed top of screen, its Nvidia 520.

<<Update>> I have re-installed the graphics driver and tried a newer beta graphics driver. Did not improve.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! If it starts paused, it DOESN'T INSTANTLY CRASH! Also, shift X works now! IDK what combination of things finally fixed it, and I don't care! Hopefully it wont crash partway in now...

Now I can actually do stuff!
