IMFD 5 Video Tutorial

Thought I'd add this to the list:

Rdenny has made a 20-min video tutorial showing how to use IMFD5 for interplanetary trips. Only he's flying between Europa and Callisto, which uses the same principles as going from Earth to Mars, only on a smaller scale (and with more complicated local gravity). You can find it

Note, however, that this tutorial appears to have been made with IMFD 5.0. The current version is 5.1e, which does things differently in some places and appears to have some bugs that 5.0 doesn't have. Fortunately, 5.0 is still available at Jarmo's site.

IMFD 5.1g

Ok looks like he upgraded it to IMFD - Space Navigation Computer Version 5.1g Launched at 28.03.2008.

Alot of the tutorials Jarmo refers to are for older versions of the IMFD for instance the turorial Moon2Earth is for version 5.0. There are quite a few changes in the interface of the MFD for new users to have to stumble through.
Any chance Jarmo or somone else will make a complete tutorial on returning to earth from the moon in the most effecient way. I have some of it posted here

But I dont think Im getting all of it done there. My fuel usage is VERY bad. One would also like to see the IMFD and the AMSO people do a good tutorial for us like the free return flight that was posted on his sight. I know these guys are busy, but can a pilot get a hand getting home now that Im here at the moon?

I am sure there will be new tutorials after I have finished new guidance programs. It should get much more easier and accurate after that. But it will take a while until the programs are ready.

I had lots of problems with the IMFD when I first started. Now, thanks to a user named Pirx on the orbiter.dansteph forums, I am an expert with the IMFD. The excellent tutorial is available here:

That video tutorial worked quite well even with the latest IMFD 5.4, for me at least. So I still recommend it with the latest Orbiter version. (I think it's relevant to know so I don't think that violates the necro rules?)

At least getting from Europa to Callisto it works fine. I tried to translate what I had learned and make a trip from Earth to Mars the same way, and failed. Oh well, back to the drawing board. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, not something wrong with IMFD 5.4 or the tutorial. (if anyone has any helpful hints, pass them along please?)...
