An experimental drug, injected into spinal fluid, safely lowered levels of toxic proteins in the brain.
The research team, at University College London, say there is now hope the deadly disease can be stopped.
Experts say it could be the biggest breakthrough in neurodegenerative diseases for 50 years.

Excellent news.

Sounds very promising, that many of the other diseases with similar mechanics could also be healed soon. :)

Yeah. Like human maliciousness and grumpiness.

It seems that everybody after their 30-ties does...

Might just be a Northern German issue.

But seriously: I find it worse to be forced to pretend to feel happy if you don't than to be forced to pretend to feel bad, when deep inside, you actually feel great.

Its better to be grumpy sometimes, than to level out and have just one happy emotion with minimal variation. Or just be grumpy on different scales.

Then I clearly have to add Southern Polish to the mix. You have no idea how many old friends I lost, because they lost the will to adapt to the society and now they insist that the society adapts to them.

I have noticed that many people who work in services, where they have to be nice to customers, are actually almost equally nice after work. My hypothesis is that the work is for these people a learning experience, that other people never have, and this experience teaches them, that being nice works better than being grumpy.

Top. I have to stick it over my bed.

I fight for the right to be grumpy.

Having known your OF persona for so long, this is not a surprise. We wouldn't have it any other way, of course.

This is just a random one...but I've seen a few sensible arguments for the positive and constructive outcomes of getting angry:

5. Anger reduces violence

Although anger often precedes physical violence, it can also be a way of reducing violence. That’s because it’s a very strong social signal that a situation needs to be resolved. When others see the signal they are more motivated to try and placate the angry party.
If you’re still not convinced that anger might reduce violence, imagine a world without anger where people had no method for showing how they felt about injustice. Might they jump straight to violence?

My wife, who is not nice to people by her nature, in contrast to me, usually brings up this reasoning against me. And I give her right to do so, because as nice as I am, when somebody angers me, it usually ends up violently for him and my insurance has to pay my lawyer for proving me innocent

Well... I had to switch to Bodycount and Kreator in my car in the past weeks, for making sure that the following crimes are not happening over a order of a few days:

  • Disturbing public peace (§ 126)
  • murder in multiple cases (§211)
  • violation of graves (§168)
  • arson with loss of life in multiple cases (§306c)
  • Damage to religious objects (§304)
  • Destruction of structures (§305)
  • Massive bodily harm in multiple cases (§226)
  • Illegal handling of nuclear material (§328)
  • Causing a nuclear explosion (§307)
  • Exhibitionism (§183)
  • Insult (§185)
  • Blasphemy (§166)
  • Resisting arrest (§113)
  • Attacking police officers (§114)
  • Attacking air and sea traffic (§316c)
  • Interfering into a drug therapy (§323b)
  • Unsorting of waste (§326)

Sadly, my lawyer would just declare me mad as a hatter and agree to the prosecution.

You can't possibly make me believe that there's a paragraph in german law specifically for that...

There is.

We have a law for EVERYTHING. I am pretty sure, you can even find a law about "messing with the laws of physics and creating a black hole in the process."
