How to install hi-res planetary textures (instructions)

Hi, I'm writing in hope to save others from headaches I had to endure when I wanted to boost my enjoyment of the Sim by hires planetary textures.

If you downloaded hires textures and after unzipping them in the Textures2 folder didn't notice any change, what you have to do (or at least what helped me) is to remove files Earth_lmask.bin and Earth_lmask.tex from Textures folder.

You're right,
but those two files[*] have been removed long long time ago (rev. 2 @ 2014-04-13) from the Orbiter BETA repository

If you have the (HDD-)space left, it's always best to start with a fresh install of the current Orbiter BETA base ....and then install/copy only the needed file(s). This way you can be pretty sure to have a 'clean' install with no 'already deleted' files left.

Ah, I was talking about Orbiter 2010, sorry I forgot to wrote that. But if this might help even someone with Beta, only better
