How did you get your Friends to Orbiter?

Life was different BO (before Orbiter).

I like COD4 and Crysis. And even bought expensive hardware FOR gaming.

But Orbiter is something else altogether. And orbiter also benefits from the hardware :)

Showed my best mate some screenshots through IM and he was interested and asked me for the link,
So thats another thing i've got him addicted to, just like microsoft flight simulator

I found that trying to get my real life (non-online) friends to be enthused about Orbiter is like trying to push an elliptical peg through a square hole. Not that "square hole" is a literal description of their brains, but the implication is sometimes surprisingly accurate.

Same story here. Except for one girl. I told her about it, and she was like "OMG SHOW ME NOW!"
"You might want to brush up on your orbital mechanics..."
"Where can I do that?"

I was like *gasp*

Dude, you just found a keeper.

Dude, you just found a keeper.

Agreed...

Perhaps you guys should try a different approach. Sounds like your friends are sitting next to you or looking over your shoulder while you perform a few maneuvers. Orbiter doesn't have enough eye candy or *wow* factor to get someone's interest just by watching.

Sit them in front of your computer, draw a napkin diagram of what they are about to accomplish, and make them do it. If you don't think they have the right stuff to pull it off, your wasting your time in the first place. Besides, I'm sure 99% of us got hooked because we said "yeah, whatever, this looks easy" and then on our one hundredth attempt, we finally saw the ol' ISS go by and almost made it :) The point is, if they see and feel the challenge and they fail simply trying to make orbit, they may actually download the thing and finally pull it off just to prove you wrong... by then, they'll be hooked ;)

Watching you make it look easy won't impress them one bit. Then it just looks boring.
