Gaming Hielor's Minecraft Server

What do people think?

I think it is a great idea, It would need a central communal building that would serve as a base for all the miners.

On an entirely unrelated note, don't try to ride a boat through the stargate.

I take it, that it end's badly.

To the builder of the Blaze Grinder, your technical assistance may be needed. It seems a mob got into the workings and the lower front pistons have stopped working.

Me and Woo have had a look at it. but cant work out how i to fix it.

ditto for the new world, where we can build colonies and such and war over rare and ubiquitous resources. Dibs on the name Narnia :P

Except for the part where Hielor destroys and remakes it, and everything is lost. But ah well, it happens in the End, too. :P

And it's not Narnia if there are no beaver-men.

Really looking forward to quartz, mostly as a building ingredient. Hopefully it won't be too rare. I'm tired of the only light stone being smooth slabs. Marble façades, anyone?

There's also End stone, and it's 50% more blast resistant than other stone/iron blocks.

It's a bit, well, exotic, though. Without amazing luck, the End may be incredibly difficult to get to. It also looks like a petrified sponge.

Ive managed to fix the Blaze grinder, it appears that it was a single redstone torch that was missing. After finding out how it works i think i may be time for the grinder to get an overhaul.

Happy Leeuwenhoek Day!

I'm all for the new world idea.

Seems to be a lot of approval for that idea...

At this point with regard to the "new world" possibility, I'm most interested in hearing from:
- Anyone opposed to the idea, with reasons why (always good to hear from both sides)
- Any ideas for a method of getting there and back. We've established that we can't (reliably) ride boats or minecarts through a portal (even though the page for the addon says you can do this, I don't see any way of making it work, so any plan with those are out).

Some details about what's possible: A portal can be any rectangular region; no specific blocks are needed to define it (the stargate is just for show). A "fee" can be charged for the usage of a portal; items are taken from the player's inventory to meet the fee, and if they can't pay, they don't get to use the portal. A portal exit can be pretty much anything at all, including a location/velocity vector that will "launch" the player on arrival.

Have we?
The old world was read-only - the boat disappeared on arrival, and you got stuck.
Have you tested it with a normal world?

How much trouble is it to set up and/or delete a new world?
If it's not much trouble, then what about we make a new world now, and try out different ways of getting there and using it?

My idea is the "space station" with a portal, and some clever way of getting up there.

No need to create a new world for that, I can just go between two places in the current world.

I tried the "launcher" type of destination with a minecart and it didn't work at all. I'll do some more testing later.

I'm also in support of the space station idea, or at least a space ship

BTW, I suggest the new world to be made in large biomes, if we really want to use it for resources. Sands in a huge desert biome should make for a continuous supply for the SkyCity :)

I was thinking the resource world would be relatively small in terms of borders, only 1km x 1km or 2km x 2km--not sure how that would work with large biomes. Personally, I kind of prefer the much more varied look of normal size biomes...

How about using a 1km / 1km resource world with large biodomes and resetting it on a regular basis. I don't know how easy it would be to implement.

Re-confirmed that minecarts through portals don't work. If the target portal is in the same world, it doesn't work at all and you just end up passing through. If the target portal is in another world, both you and the minecart get ported, but you're not in the minecart when you arrive, you're like halfway into the ground.

All the resets have to be manual, so I'd like to avoid having to do it too often. I also think only resetting when there's a good reason to (new resource, new terrain, etc) would be good.
