Gaming Hielor's Minecraft Server

I'm flying WGS 5 right now or I'd be all over it. :P

(Also KSP 0.20 came out and I've been messing with that in my limited free time.)

Hi after about a year of deciding I am finally preparing to buy minecraft. I will have purchased minecraft by later this night or tomorrow, the latest will be Tuesday. When I get it how will I be able to loginto a server? What are the rules for this server? Are there any limits to what I can or cannot build? How many structures are found within a certain area?

Thank you

It's all in the first post.

You will need to get Hielor to add you to the whitelist, however.

You should spend some time in a single-player survival world first to learn the basics. A server isn't usually noob-friendly as you'll have a much harder time getting basic resources.

Three days ago a new sailing ship construction has been started:
Pirate_ship-in_construction.jpg

I'll post some in-game screenshots of it on the Minecraft screenshots thread after I'll finish masts (well, without sails for now, because they will be the hardest to make).

The ship will have 28 working cannons and its own nether portal at the lower deck (don't load the starboard and stern cannons with fire charges - I don't want this nice looking jungle island burned down).

That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing. Where is it?

Also, maybe you should have the starboard/stern cannons be nonfunctional but *look* like they're functional? If that's possible? Maybe have the cannon port holes closed, or something...

I might add that someone just starting out *may* have a higher probability of getting things blown up by creepers... :shifty:

It happens to everybody, though.

Orbiterworld: -3500, 65, -62, like the coordinates on the dynmap screenshot (I hovered the mouse over the ship when I was taking the screenshot). ;)

Currently the nearest portal is in the Far West Jungled Bay.

Done. I've made all the starboard/stern dispensers private. They will probably be still usable, but with restricted access to the charge.

In a jail block at Delta Crateris we now have Chuck Jr., charged with brutal murder, explosive arson, and jaywalking.

Is it worth the effort to relocate him to a nice cell in a visible location, or would he just despawn as soon as i leave the area?

If you happen to find a name tag in a dungeon after the 1.6 update, you can make him non-despawnable. :P

(The server hasn't been updated yet, of course, so don't search for name tags.)

On an unrelated note, I've started adding rigging to my ship a couple of days ago. I don't build it every day, so it's taking time. Next will be a portal, maybe a couple of screenshots, and then sails.

Ah, so my creeper generation crater is going to be worth the...
No, it won't.

Creepers blow up, and name tags are very finite - i'll run out of minions in a blink of a BOOM.

Meanwhile, the server remains ghostly unpopulated.
Makes sense when it's over 30C even in Moscow.
Two weeks - either bureaucracy runs out, or the time to complete it runs out, and i'm leaving civilization behind for the rest of the summer... two weeks...

Meanwhile, i've established a message and news board in the survival world's town.
Feel free to use and abuse.

So, you guys remember when I had like a few hundred chickens on the server?...

It would appear that a Minecraft update is available.

As a reminder, I will not be updating the server until the Bukkit beta build is available.

On another note, it seems that people aren't using the server as much as before?

It's July, so the "final exams" excuse doesn't work any more.

For those who have previously spent a lot of time on the server, but aren't now: Why?

For those who have never spent a lot of time on the server: why not?

Is there anything I should be looking to change on my end in order to encourage more players?

I don't feel likle playing minecraft ATM. Simple as that. I'll be back when I want too.

Pretty much. I'm just on that part of my cycle. I'll be back. :)

I'm venturing into modpacks for Minecraft now. Somewhat 'done' with vanilla survival.
But I don't expect this server to ever go into serious mods. And I don't have the resources to host a very good server. (I have a server, but it would freak out over too many people)

I have my thesis taking up most of my time in addition having to live a month (this month) in a very rural village with little to no internet connection, I even have to borrow my friend's modem for me to check an update on this site, and do some work, so don't expect to see me until next month.
