Whenever I put my computer into standby or hibernate mode with Orbiter still running, weird things happen on my return, particularly with the DGIV:

1) All of the oxygen in the cabin and 1st O2 tank disappear.
2) The craft quite literally stops in mid-orbit and falls out of the sky.

This has happened twice now - any ideas why?

Orbiter isn't designed to handle recovery from hibernate or standby. Why not exit orbiter then hibernate? It'll make sure that the scenario data is written correctly and cleanly.

Who needs quicksave? [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4690"]StateSaver Autosave[/ame]

That addon has saved my missions more than once.

Well, *ideally* it wouldn't have to. In an ideal world, the OS and Hardware would do such a job of restoring the machine state that Orbiter would have no way of telling (apart from looking at the system date/time) whether the computer had gone into hibernation at all at any point during its run.

Unfortunately, the real world is not ideal.

I have never come across problems with orbiter hibernating. BTW be careful when you use hibernate. Broke my computer.
