Well let me explain the situation, i made my Rinc 0.00 my orbit hight to that of ISS and im very close to ISS but i have to admit i can't dock for crud. so DGIV has an autodock thing on it where if you set the frequancy to ISS it will dock well i set my frequancy and pressed Alt 4 to begin auto dock but it says frequancy not set on NAV1 but it is look at this pic

so whats wrong?

I am not sure what the problem is but can you not just use Dock MFD ? it shows gates for you to fly through if you are close enough

as i posted earlier i can't dock because well i suck at it yo should have seen it when i tried to dock without autodock i went past ISS at an unrealistic speed

EDIT: i found out te problem on my own i had my frequancy on ISS not docking port 1. this is my first succesful docking ever but i geuss since its autopilot i guess i can't be proud of it or should i be proud?

The main thing about docking is patience. Once you get close to the ISS, null your relative velocity by thrusting toward the "cross in a ball". Then poit at the middle of the docking approach lane marked by the green boxes (set DockMFD to the desired port, then hit the <HUD> button. And apply a tiny bit of thrust. Don't let the RVEL get much over 10 m/s. By now, you should see the plus sign showing negative RVEL, use translational RCS to move the cross to the green boxes. If you get impatient, use time acceleration - keep the RVEL at 10 or you'll end up flying past it. Once you are in the approach lane, null you're RVEL again with RCS or a quick retro thrust.

Once you are more or less in the lane, turn to align with the dock, using the DockMFD's display. Get the cross centered as perfectly as you can, any misalignment will cause you trouble since any forward or reverse RCS will also cause a lateral motion. Then use translational RCS to move slowly (10 m/s or less) toward the dock, and use translational thrust to keep the plus sign centered in DockMFD. About 20 meters out, use reverse translational thrust to slow down and try to dock at less than one m/s, although you can be going a little faster and still dock.

Always use a low speed (never more than 20 m/s - 10 is better) and use time accell if you get impatient - not more velocity.

Also, it helps if you don't have "gravity gradient torque" enabled in the launch pad until you get some experience. The "absolute killrot" mod helps also, I think it's on Orbit Hanger.

well i already docked if you havnt read the post above and i was talking about docking with autoplot but thanks fo the advice on how to dock manualy i will try to next time.

If you can't dock manually you can't really use anything but the DGIV. It's a great ship, but the XR series is also a lot of fun. It just takes a little practice, and once you get it it becomes routine.

Tommy's right... the first few times I watched what the Alt4 auto pilot was doing and now I can zip right up to orbit and manually doc. Complete with multi-axis maneuvers, powering up APU and opening the nose cone at the last second ... it's quite fun. Contact speed is usually ~.05m/s for the last 5 meters.
