Gun debate

Swiss citizenship is almost impossible to achieve, isn't it?

Not harder as in other European countries. But learning the local languages is hard. ;)

It depends on three factors:

1. How much money you have
2. How much money you have
3. You have to have the right nationality allready in advance

If points one and two are satisfactory, point 3 is not taken into account. If points one and two are not satisfactory, if you don't satisfy point three there's not much chance.

Nah, I'll have to be fair here. These points only aply wheather or not you are allowed to LIVE in Switzerland, When you want to become a citizen points one and two become minor issues oposed to point three. (but of course you have to live here for at least 5 years first, so you better check out at above points!)

Nationalities you should not have: American in leftist regions, any muslim nationality in rightist regions. while you stand a fair chance as an american in rightist regions, leftist regions will give citizenship to muslims very readily just to annoy the rightists. Oh well, no state is perfect...

But learning the local languages is hard.
MUAHAHAHAAA!

We invented that on purpose to prevent the threat of getting culturally assimilated by germany! :P

No, it's quite easy. Marry a Swiss, get a permit, stay in the country 5 years and maybe get a job, it's more automated than a Windows installation program. However, once you will witness the horrendously high cost of life and how you've to pay through the nose for healthcare (which is mandatory AND privatized) you'll be running away screaming.

Well, depends. Do you watch Stargate SG1? Try to talk like a Goa'uld, in Bern you may pass for a native speaker. :)

Let me show you my German tax reports, including welfare stuff, which does not count as taxes officially, you will will understand why gun control is needed here.

At least they didn't borrow their language from a neighbouring country! :P (at least only for part...)

yay, let's take the "Röstigraben" to the Orbiter Forum!

Amen on the shotgun as the best home defense weapon. There's just nothing like the sound of jacking a 12 gauge for its deterrent effect.

I find that as I get older, shotguns are the only kind of weapon that keeps increasing in my collection. In the last few years, I probably fire 500 rounds of shotgun ammunition for every round of pistol or rifle ammo.

But personally, for home defense, I rely more on the claymores we embedded in the walls when we remodeled the house.

Claymores:-

Won't it be difficult getting them out?

N.

Well, let's hope you don't have children close to the tripwires.

I'll be the first to admit that I haven't been following this topic since the last one closed so what I'm saying maybe at the wrong time etc. However, I thought all the anti-gun people on this forum would enjoy this little article straight out of my home state, and and just the other side of Atlanta from my home town.

I just so happen to live there. :beach:

P.S. Where are you? Southeast or Northeast?

I think it's for situations in which you're willing to destroy the house rather than cede it to the villains.

Oh, it is very simple here. we just let the wood oven run and choke the chimney. Nothing is better for disabling villians as a carbon monoxide poisoning.

Landmines are one of the few weapons I really can't stand. Anyone using such a thing should be hung by the balls and hit in the face with a rusty bayonett. :chair:

Ouch... I really didn't expect to see a comment like this from you mate, it's not really a mature frame of mind on the issue.

Nah, it's just Simponpro's sense of humor. But I think he's serious about hating landmines. It's understandable, given that they are often left behind after the war is over and go on to mame and kill people for years.

All the same, they do have a legitimate purpose in combat, such as when you need to defend against a much stronger enemy.

But the ethical dilemma remains. We don't like to use chemical weapons, either, for example.

Anyway, this is getting off-topic since the thread is about private weapons, not military.
