Hey y'all.
I was just wondering if there is an addon that adds ground service vehicles.
I just thought it would be an extra layer of fun and realism.
I remember seeing ground service vehicles in OH, I can't find them however.
Also, on an youtube channel here https://www.youtube.com/user/1T2E3D4 , someone called "TeddyJohn" made a short movie (Orbit Not, I think) in which there are all sorts of ground service vehicles.
Is it possible to use General Vehicle to make such vehicles? Is it already an addon?
Thanks!

There was a tow truck around, but I am not sure if it survived the update to 2016 - the new 3D terrain meant that many ground related things in the API changed and needed work.

I think you mean this one JBT B1200 by tl8. And no, it hasn't been updated to work with Orbiter 2016 unfortunately.

I think I recognize some of those vehicles as being from DanSteph's UCGO 3.0 add-on which is also not compatible with Orbiter 2016.

a set of equipment for airfields are present in the addon of the Kourou cosmodrome

MaxBuzz recently made several russian military vehicles and even ships that are or were used for recovery and tracking of the Mir-era Soyuz missions.

I didn’t make military equipment (principle)

I would have no problems also making military vessels... but its really hard to find a niche for them in Orbiter.

Anything past a "lets demonstrate mutually assured destruction." could be done better on another platform.

Depends, I guess some utilities like Jeeps, UAZ, Ural trucks, APCs can always have a use. Also helicopters, SAR planes and aircraft carriers for the US Navy recovery ops.

Maybe also "multipurpose" ships such as the FFG Perry Hazard, that can carry helicopters and are well-suited for all-weather recovery ops.

Yeah. I once thought about adding some SAR planes to Orbiter as option for those like me, who have a talent to land in the vast oceans of Earth. ?

Then P-3 Orion is perfect for extended searches, and can drop a liferaft.

Also hydoplanes. From Cessna Caravan (hydro version) to SAR Canadair.

Yeah. For a DG-tech scenario, I would wonder, if using something like a futuristic hybrid between ground effect vehicle and aircraft would be one possibility.

Sure, would look somewhat weird to use an old fashioned full-analog piston-engine Canadair to rescue a fusion-cell-powered full-digital DeltaGlider.

Something like the Osprey with engines that can be rotated would already be better. The Fallout franchise (back to Fallout 2) copied that design for their "Vertibird". A naval version able to land on water could be a thing.

Or then something more radical, like a big jet VTOL.

Yeah.... there are some extrapolations possible. But the biggest issue I had in development is actually: How to get started? How do you call it? What is the scope?

Would be likely the same question for any service vehicle - for which add-on is the service?

Actually yes, the challenge for service vehicles would be to make them actually useful. UGCO did come close from that...

The source should be in the file. If it isn't I can dig it out and send to someone.

I have heard of UCGO and UMMU, yet I don't know what they are nor where you can get them. Could you please explain?

General Vehicle is pretty simple to use, it even has attatchment points so that you can tow stuff. Just need to config stuff, but the problem is that I have to get a mesh, which is something that I am not familiar with.
