well, this takes the :censored:ing biscuit. I screwed windows, permanently (destroyed the windows folder after a defrag-crash). I had to re-install Arch Linux as I need something to run. the :censored:ing thing can't see my desktop resolution, so it runs at 1024x768 (this has been fixed since the time of writing), and it doesn't recognise my sound card (I'm using the on-board sound chip).

Does anyone here know how to access an NTFS drive from Linux? I need to get to my files and move them over (FIXED, thanks to Artlav).

Bummer man, things just keep blowing up for you. Unfortunately, I have no experienc using Linux at all, so I can't help you.

Get a more universal Linux distribution, or install ntfs-3g into one you have.
If all you need is to read off the files, the internal ntfs read-only driver should suffice.

Ubuntu can read/write NTFS natively. Easiest would perhaps be to grab the live cd and boot into that, get what you need that way.

Why not boot WinPE? It's a windows OS on a CD

Thank you, Artlav, the NTFS-3g thing works a charm. oh, Xyon, pardon me for being rude, but I will never touch ubuntu again. too many bad experiences (couldent get it to run in anything but terminal mode, ened up screwing up my hard disk)
