Question Geysers and plume effects

You should remove '&thumb=1' at the end of your url. Is this a screenshot for ants?

That would require making a "vessel" that, once placed at the right place, emits a particle system. But particle systems are aware of the pressure outside, so you'll have to trick it a bit to make the particle system to work.

The volcano vents and streams was causing CTD so renamed the dll module and configs and contents to 'Geyser' if that can be done? and is no longer causing CTD

EDIT:No that cannot be done,I think there was a conflict with the volcano in UCGO III demo.

After some playing around ive come up with a mesh that looks geyser-ish.

There is no reason for you to have a CTD. Renaming the dll module is not necessary. Anyway, particle streams resemble geysers more than what can be done with a mesh. Also, this particular addon has a number of variable to tweak your geyser how you want it.

I removed the UCGO volcano from my test orbiter install. It no longer CTD so it is as simple as making a small mesh, call it a vessel and copy/paste the paramiters in the volcano addon readme into the scenario file?

If you are making a mesh, it would make sense to have only a mesh of the crater or base of the geyser, rather than the whole thing itself.

So the mesh would only need to be a small mound with a hole in the top.Dous the mesh need the same name as the DLL file?

Nope. This would be one way to proceed:

1) Create a vessel with SC3 and assign the crater mesh to it. The mesh can be named anything, as long as it is defined in the config file. Then a particle stream vessel, provided in the earlier addon, can be placed at the exact location as the SC3 vessel.

The better method would be:

2) Define the location you want the geysers at, as a base. In that way, by editing the base config, you could directly place the mesh on the landscape, without creating another vessel. The particle stream, however, has to spawned or placed at the right location.

I have spawned the volcano vent vessel over the little mesh but there is no stream showing, what variable needs changing to work outside an atmosphere?

The volcano vents do not work unless there is an atmosphere.Just give the moon an unnoticeable atmosphere but enough for the vent to work.

This is what it is now and do not need an additional mesh, copied atmosphere from Io and tweaked it.Thanks for your help:thumbup:
