Hi everyone,

I've been toying with the idea of launching a satellite to Geostationary orbit to keep the satellite in place over Wideawake International.

I was wondering if there are any tutorials, or MFDs etc. that could help me get to Geostationary orbit.

Thanks,

SE

You can do it with standard MFDs. Set up a circular orbit at 35,786 km with equitorial inclination less than 5 degrees.

I recommend this add-on:

You have to time the burn right to get over Widewake; just 180 degrees to the other side won't work. The formula [math]D = \frac{P_{gto}*360}{86400}+180[/math], where [math]D[/math] is the number of degrees ahead of target longitude to center transfer burn and [math]P_{gto}[/math] is the period of your geostationary transfer orbit. PM me if you are interested in where it comes from.

It simplifies to [math]D = \frac {P_{gto}}{240}+180[/math]
