General Question Galaxy Development

You can useDXT-5 too. So if 1 doesn't work try 5.

and i just tried the DXT-5 textures i just made but they are still inside-out.
 
Hi,

The normals are all inside out on the Anim8or model (I had a peek at it, sorry!).

Check it out. Open your Galaxy in Anim8or, In the toolbar set Select Object / Point Edit mode, below that set Face Select, and below that set Drag Select.

Drag a box all around the rocket, then go back to Object Select Edit mode (the pointer). The ship will be ALL BLUE.

In the EDIT drag down menu, select Flip Normals. The rocket will turn ALL YELLOW. Export it and convert it again. Should be okay with that.
 
when i highlight it, it turns yellow right away, not blue, and when i used flip normals it stayed yellow.

i'll export it and see if it works.
 
Did you press the flip normals button?

I did it succesfully. Tell me what you did exactly step by step.
 
opened anim8or
loaded the mesh
selected "point/edit"
selected faces
drag selected the whole ship
went to edit and pressed "flip normals"

but in order to make sure i did it right i did it again in prespective view rather than just front and now it works for me, so now the whole ship is blue
 
Does it work then? If not, then switch to flat view. That should help. It worked for me so I don't know what to tell you.
 
no, i exported the new mesh with flipped normals to orbiter but it was still inside out.

this is getting a little monotonous
 
I agree. As much as I would like to help you out and fix this problem, I can't see what the problem is. I did it and it worked, but as you do it it does not work. Maybe somebody can help you out more than me because I don't have enough information.
 
I am going to try and make the whole zip file.

do you want me to send the scn and ini files to you? you could see it for yourself and maybe figure out what i'm doing wrong.

both files are extremely simple since i only used them for testing the mesh and are actually straight out of the tutorial

thanks for all this help, i'm a newbie to stuff like this. actually i just learned how to make a zip file just this morning in order to get you the textures and things, shows about how useless i am with computers
 
Is the texture for the boosters supposed to look like? I didn't do the mainbody textures though.
