A "CloudGenerator" vessel that will randomly create little fluffy clouds over a square of planet surface. Includes scenario with CloudGenerator at Cape Canaveral. Use the Scenario Editor to place CloudGenerator as required.

Installation and operation notes in Doc/Cloud Generator/cloud_generator_README.txt

Cloud parameters can be set in the config file Config/Vessels/CloudGenerator.cfg:
CloudHeight:cloud base height
CloudArea:side of cloud cover square
CloudCount:number of clouds
CloudSize:relative size
CloudDiffusion:more/less random shape
CloudTexture:texture dds

NB Having many clouds can impact your FPS!

Another one of my dumb "cloud" experiments :-)

Not dumb by any stretch of the imagination. I loved using it just now. Launched STS-1 with the default parameters. the only thing that I didn't like was that the clouds didn't 'kill' themselves after getting far away.

Shouldn't vessels disappear after getting a certain distance away from them?

Yeah I'd think they should. I launched the shuttle and the clouds were still visible even when Florida was beyond the horizon. Might be because they're contrail textures?

Don't think its "dumb" at all!
Looks brilliant - with a bit of tweaking.
Good work - thank you.

Looks great from just the screenshots! It is fine to take pride in your work.

The only thing that would be dumb would be not to give it a try. Great idea, and it looks like "the real thing" greatly adding to the realism and experience.
Good job Brian!

Hey folks, thanks for the kind words, hope you have some fun with it. Adds a certain something to takeoffs and landings, I guess.

So much self-esteem in this post.

A fine addition, IMO. It adds life to ground scenarios; life that is direly needed.

Yes, along with the contrail associated with them, I think. So if you put a "Size" parameter in the CloudGenerator.cfg, with a sufficiently small value, it might become invisible at a shorter distance. Worth a try maybe. Or you could delete it with Scenario Editor.

You call it dumb? I call it (because it is a vessel) brilliant! We put this addon in the Orbiter Multiplayer environment and this will make for some very nice videos and immersiveness. Thank you for this addon.

When I get my PC, I'll definitely be downloading this. This is something really needed for orbiter, one step closer to implementing actual weather into the game.

Very very good addon.
Some thing else I,ve always wanted to see are contrails at different stages left by aircraft. Possibly 2 or 3 at a time.

Has anybody figured out the size parameter to make the clouds dissapear in the distance yet? Yeah BrianJ this is a really wonderful addon,Thanks

You're most welcome! Just tried reducing the SIZE to 0.01 - but doesn't work. Contrail still persists even if vessel is invisible (contrary to what I thought previously). Don't know if there is a workaround for this.

Not quite sure what you mean Kendo.
Something like this?

JMW, no not guite. I mean just the contrails that aircraft have left after they have passed over, that you see in the sky. The ones that seem to last for hours.
It has nothing to do with any Orbiter aircraft.
Similar to how Brianj has done the clouds, but instead of clouds there will be a couple of contrails.
Sorry If Ive hijacked the thread.
