The semi-finals are starting as I watch, a rare cultural treat.

Any important starter? I currently watch the final "Bully sucht die starken Männer" (Bully searches the strong men), a public casting for the main roles of Michael "Bully" Herbigs next movie. So far a pretty entertaining show, with some great moments.

In all honesty, I thought the Belgium lady had a a good voice.
My favourite so far is the Azerbaijan entry.
I haven't figured how the Hell/Angel changed costume?

Excellent, Finland has just kicked off with a Deep Purple clone!

Which band did they send this year? Finland is the really kingdom of Heavy Metal, many great Bands are Finnish.

Ah, just found it: Teräsbetoni (Steel reinforced concrete)... which are more influenced by the great US band Manowar. Never heard of them before, but sounding like Manowar can't be bad in the Eurovision Song Contest.

They did their best, I think Romania had the best vocal, and Russia gets a special award for.. well, you would have to see it.

Remarkable, the first semi-final is finished, and no West European country is through, execept for Norway.
Its the un-biased and lack of nationalist voting I enjoy in this competion.

LOL, what do you think will happen when Kosovo joins the EBU. One balkanized country more. ;)

[...]I think Romania had the best vocal[...]

I don't care much about Eurovision nor how my country is represented (bad previous experiences) but I was curious about that "best vocal". It turns out Nico is representing Romania, she's cool so I guess I'll "tune in" too. Funny, AFAIK she was first introduced by BUG Mafia (rap), no Eurovision "material" back then. If interested, this is (again, AFAIK) her first (or at least first well known) song:
I have no idea who the :censored: is Vlad Mirita dough...

Edit: Admins, maybe only place the link to the video :P

¡Perrea! ¡Perrea!
El chikichiki mola mogollón
Lo bailan en la China y tambien en Alcorcón
Dale chikichiki a esa morenita

Rodolfo Chikilicuatre... thats what my country is sending  the chiki-chiki song....

geez..

The best option is to send spanish eurovision chief to the moon with no return ticket.

That day I´ll turn tv out . I still appreciate my own menthal health.

The finnish contribution to the ESC... I hope they pass the semifinals, because I want to see them in the final!!! But because of the censorship of my TV stations, I can't see the semifinal or vote for Finland. :(

Another Semi-Final as I look, Hungary is singing its heart out. Remarkable stuff, its what the EBU was designed for.

Favourites
Czech Republic, artistic content.
Latvia, novelty value.
Denmark, just strange.

I wonder why UK has not won many (if any) eurovision contests
maybe because Pink Floyd are not very interest at it.

run rabbit , run
digg a hole
forget the sun

I LOVE THEM

I'm afraid the Eurovision Song Contest is live as we speak, is there no end to it?

N.

You know. Once the points are counted, the winner announce and the winning song played - it will be totally over. Nothing will remind you. Not even the winning song.

Portugal is having a go, I quite like it.
