First Elis launch vehicle mission departing from sea platform NVM1 near Capo Passero - ASVI dock. Payload is the MT4 telescope designed for Solar System high resolution observation

Launch window: 3 minutes
Mission goals: testing the new Elis automatic launch system which can be installed on other FOI launchers. Immediate images taken from MT4 telescope: Jupiter, Saturn and Moon

In case of scrub, subsequent launch window opens Thursday, February 21 at 20:30:00

After a navigation that last for a few days, started from the La Spezia port, yestarday afternoon the floating launching barge NVM1 has arrived in Capo Passero port facility.

The crew has unveiled the ELIS rocket shortly before entering the port, in order to show it to the numerous public who has come to witness the event.

Once berthed the barge, the team of technicians of Capo Passero together with the specialist of NVM begun the commisioning and final testing of the vessels, that will continue without intermissions up to the launch date

Inside ELIS's fairings there is already the small technological gem, the MT4 telescope, which next wednesday will be positioned in orbit around Earth with the scope of taking new high resolution pictures of both Solar System objects and Earth itself.

The other very ambitious objective of the next week mission is to test the new avionic system and the new guidance system of the small ELIS launcher. In case of positive result of the test, the implementation of the system into the FOI launchers will be remarkably closer.
