ive been trying to fly a mission in a realistic craft, going from earth, to lunar orbit, and then back home. a couple of issues elude me though:

1) how do i get IMFD to return me to earth from lunar orbit? which program do i use and how? should i just use "orbit Eject" in "lower orbit" and set the Delta V to about 850M/s?

2)is it possible to use IMFD's planet approach program to place your orbit ROUGHLY over a target base? i can adjust the Inc, but im unsure of how to set up LAN so that i pass over a certain place.

thanks guys!

You will need to use the Course/planet approach program. Set the EqI to the degrees of your target's latitude and the PeA to about 250k. Then go to the Orbit eject program and select "Course" and go ahead with the burn.

After you've left the Moon's SOI, you can use the base approach program to plot a reentry path. The way i used to do it was this:
Select Orbit Insert and set the PeA to 70km. Then as the coordinates of your target, select the coordinates that are exactly on the opposite side of the globe than your target base. (example, say you want to land on KSC: 80.67W 28.52N the opposite side of that is (180-80.67=99.33E and for the lattitude, just change the direction 28.52S)
Burn this plan when you're still away from earth and make a correction when you are near.
You could of course go for a direct reentry, but (IMO) this is simpler.

ill have a go later, but ive just been told im allowed to reveal the new craft i was flying.

it was a beta test flight, i guessed that the best way to do the beta testing was to put it through its paces

ok, ive managed to get away from the moon, and in the right direction, but im having trouble making the last MCC.

i would notmally use Planet Approach for the MCCs, setting the desired PeA and autoburning when they slip more than about 50Km, but i cant set myself as the source
(to get realtime burns), as it says that im still under minor influence from the moon (even when im at earth PeA)

any ideas on how to do it right?

thanks

well, ive found part of the problem:

the referencing part or orbiter (the bit that decides which planet you're orbiting/landed on) is a bit dull for me, even after hitting earth-s atmosphere, it still thought i was orbiting the moon...

any ideas people? in the meantime, ill try making a fresh orbiter installation

thanks
