Flight Question Does autoFCS work yet?

Is the location line in the base cfg suppose to be commented out like this?
Code:
BASE-V2.0
Name = Edwards
;Location = -117.838620 +34.918400 ;117°50'19.03"W 34°55'6.24"N
Size = 1000

Tried it, but flew right past at mach23.

In the list in Earth.cfg you need to have he exact file name of the base. For the default Canaveral, this would be

Code:
BEGIN_SURFBASE
DIR Earth\Base
Canaveral: -80.675000 +28.520800
END_SURFBASE

Also make sure that Canaveral.cfg is moved to the Config folder.

Oops. Yhea, the names need to be exact. DIdn't catch that in your first post there Donamy.

How I work Orbiter now is that I have an alternate Sol System, and then add only the bases that I want. So I have EarthP.cfg and keep everything organised by pointing to a directory for bases.

Certain add-ons however do not like this sort of thing, like GlideslopeMFD, DVTools, and now AutoFCS, so I end up having bases duplicated in the standard Sol and Earth, just so the base files can be in the right location, yet the sim is not using them, because it is only looking in a directory none of these MFDs seem to care about.

Wow! This is some of the best news that I've heard lately. I can't wait to get home and try this.

This does not work at all for me. No bases appear in the list. I edited my Orbiter.cfg and Earth.cfg files as shown above. I copied Canaveral.cfg into the Config folder and no dice. No bases in the list. Anyone have any ideas?

Having same issue as Mantis. There has to be a common denominator here that is being missed with some peoples working and some not. It is probably something simple

When mshields stated that AutoFCS work in Orbiter 2010 P1 I thought, "o yea....next.
Then suddenly the posts roll in confirming that it DO work.
I tried it out and sure enough...the bases is there.
Something so simple as just to alter a line....
Thanks mshields, you are the talking buzz of the Orbiter community right now.

That's the current AutoFCS, but don't allow it to overwrite Atlantis.dll.

Could you post the entire Canaveral.cfg also ?

I've got mixed results.
I tried the shuttle fleet 4.5.
That worked perfectly....except in landed in the dirt.
I suspect that it the new KSC that causes that.
Otherwise it did everything perfectly. TAEM and full HAC circle to the right.

When I tried the shuttle fleet 4.8, it does not slow down enough and past KSC at Mach 18.
I aborted the sim.
When I tried Steve's wet station shuttle it did the same. It pass KSC at mach 18.
Since I had the old KSC in this installment of Orbiter for his scenarios, I did not terminate the sim.
Was my patience rewarded.
It made a long right hand turn. It continue turning, passed Cuba and eventually line up for KSC again.
And it started the TAEM maneuverer and did a shallow left HAC turn and landed right on the middle of runway 33.

(sorry for my English...)

I solved my problem - admin rights. I run Orbiter in the Program Files (x86) folder structure and for some reason, AutoFCS needs admin rights in order to function. As soon as I ran Orbiter with Admin Rights, it worked flawlessly.

I've tried it with the XR2 Ravenstar.
It work, but I had to add thrust because it slow down too much.
But it did land eventually at KSC.

I'm zipping past KSC at high speed also. By the time it turned and slowed down I was near the Galapagos Islands. I'll continue messing around with it to see if I goofed something up...

Also, try the Soyuz Guidance MFD (soyuz_guidance-mfd_v1.02.zip) in place of the now non-functioning STS Guidance MFD.

Where can one get Soyuz Guidance MFD?

nevermind, I found it in Skylab. I thought I had seen it somewhere, I just couldnt remember where.

Hello Cras,

Soyuz Guidance MFD is also on AVSIM (v1.02). The dll was made on the 02/06/2003. There is also a Patch 1 for it. The dll there was made on the 14/06/2003 but, as far i know, only avaible on the Richard Croy's site fixing a thruster-left-on bug that reappeared after fixing another bug! "This version also displays correctly in a 800 x 600 screen resolution". But the Richard Croy's 2003 site seems to be closed.

I've a lot of old topics about STS ans Soyuz guidance MFD, and that patched version. If you, or someone, need them, contact me via the forum.

I have found that SkylabV4.8R1.zip contains a version of GuidanceMFD developed for the Soyuz that seems to work in the 100830 build of
Orbiter.

It does work. I have trouble getting back to the main menu, but I tried it for an automatic rendezvous, and it performed wonderfully.

Just use Shift + C to either abort the operation or return to the main menu. (use right or left shift depending on which MFD is being used)
