Has anyone created any tutorials regarding launch, and docking from Earth launch to docking with ISS? As of right now I have about a 15% success rate making my meeting with ISS using Dan's DGIV from all the mishes I have launched. And of that 15% that I have done sucessfully, I am not sure what I did tbh that made it work.

Also I have a hard time knowing where to reorbit to land back at KSC once I get into orbit. If anyone has any susgestions on what I can do to improve that would be great

This will probably be the biggest challenge you face while playing Orbiter... I've been playing for over a year now and docked many times and still cannot do a successful reentry and landing with the Shuttle (I always come up short or overshoot).

Try this thread from the old Orbiter forums (some of the tutorials may be dead links, but should be some good ones left): http://orbit.m6.net/Forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=3064

And also a great website for orbiter tutorials (Eharm.net): http://www.eharm.net/shop/freeware/orbiter/tutorials/tutorials.html

You should be able to get some docking to ISS tutorials there, and if you need any support on the specific's we're here to help :) I learned with nothing more than those tutorials and once you get the hang of it, you can dock with the ISS 100% of the time!

Great sites cornflake, I love these forums, so many wonderful and mature people here... Ofc dealing with the nature of what we discuss, kinda hard not to have smart mature people :p

For deorbiting I've found this tool to be the answer to all my prayers:

You can put in hypothetical delta-V's to find out when you should deorbit and how much delta-V you'll need. With this I've been able to nail dead stick landings almost every time - the only times I fail are when I get cocky and try to deorbit with a less-than-optimal window. Before it used to be hit and miss, at best.

Also take a peek at the Orbiter manual itself. Chapter 19 has three mission checklists, in particular one is for manually flying the stock DG to ISS, and one for Deorbit from Mir. Will help you get the basics of rendezvous with the ISS and basic techniques for reentry. Although the stock DG does not model damage of ship or monitor hull heat during reentry, it will give you an idea of how it should work.

Out of curiosity, what values do you plug in as the Hypothetical dV? I've messed around with some values, but haven't found anything useful.

I don't remember off the top of my head, but usually I just tune it by overshooting the DV so that the entry point is too near and steep and then back it off a m/s at a time until I find a good value. Bear in mind that it's best to do this when you're somewhat close to a point directly on the opposite side of the planet from your intended landing point. The re-entry situation is dynamic and a given DV will give you very different re-entry profiles depending on when you apply it (assuming you have at least a little eccentricity). The hypothetical DV button assumes you're going to do the burn this instant.
