I've been away for a few years, but after getting my brother interested in trying out the sim, and wanting to help him get setup, I realize there's been a few new developments, but I can't seem to find anything here in the forum (can't seem to get search to work).

Is there a list or website or documentation anywhere that describes the differences between "Orbiter 2016" downloaded from http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/download.html, or "Orbiter" downloaded from https://github.com/orbitersim/orbiter/releases/ or "open orbiter" which I can't find....

Orbiter 2016 is the latest stable release of Orbiter, and it's that all the addons work with.

Open Orbiter, is under active open source development, and eventually will make a release that replaces Orbiter 2016. There are no addons that officially work with it yet.

This is Orbiter 2016:

This is Open Orbiter:

Orbiter 2016 was the last release of Orbiter before it was open sourced. Open Orbiter is where all orbiter development is currently happening, so it’s the bleeding edge.

Most addons that work in Orbiter 2016 work fine in Open Orbiter. There are notable exceptions like NASSP.
