hey guys

I started with Orbiter a few days ago, using the original Delta Glider and the GoPlayInSpace tutorial to complete my first lunar transfer :).

Anyway, my question concerns the DG damge model. I enabled "damage and failure simulation" in the parameters. But still, I cant get my DG destroyed. I can just crash it into the surface without suffering any damage, which sucks :).

Whats the problem? Could it be that there is no damage model for the original DG or am I missing something here?

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum ! The default Delta Glider wont break on impact with the ground, The DeltaGliderIV-2 has a very good damage model and will break up if you damage it enough. you can find it here

You will see the control surfaces being ripped off with the default DG. Not the most advanced damage model there.

The mentioned DG-IV and the XR series of ships have excellent damage models.

Thanks for the link and the warm welcome!

I got another basic questions (probably answered a dozen times before):
How can I change the starting location for a Glider on Earth. Lets say I want my GD2 ready for take-off in Cape Canaveral. How to do that?

Congrat's on getting to the moon! Further great things await as your skills improve. As suggested above, the DGIV or the XR-1 is a great next step. I made a regular practice of ripping the landing gear off both craft by landing too "hot" when I first started flying them.

That information is stored in plain text in the scenario file you are loading. You can open them with a text editor like notepad.
Easiest would be to use the scenario editor and change the location from within orbiter and then save the scenario for later use.

Happy Orbiting
