Ive been reading other threads on this but still not real clear. Everytime I land its night. How can I plan re-entry so that I land in the daytime.

It's quite easy actually. Take the MJD time you start the night landing scenario from and add or subtract 12 hours from it. As long as you follow the same basic orbits you should land sunny side up.

That sounds pretty easy, but what would I do if I start a scenario already in orbit, or launch a diff scenario. There must be some calculation.

What I do is wait around in orbit watching the Basesync MFD for a good landing time, then when I pass roughly over the LZ before my final orbit, I just look around and see what the daylight situation is. Then, I either do my de-orbit burn at the usual time, or wait for the next opportunity.

There was a nice Extended Map MFD which showed day and night zones but I cannot find it now.

Use the time in the top right hand corner, make a note of sunrise times at your chosen base and plan your entry for after sunrise.

Simply do the de-orbit on the night side, this should usually get you good enough results. ;)

Easiest solution of all:

When you are about to start your de-orbit burn, just check your landing spot in Orbiter, and see if it's daylight, and take a visual look of how much daylight it has left. Simply go to an external camera, and look at the landing area from orbit with the Orbiter view controls. Simplest. Solution. Period.
